Backend & AI Automation Developer Intern

• *About EPIA**

EPIA is a technology\-driven fertility and women’s healthcare organization building intelligent systems to improve patient experience, communication and clinic operations.

We’re looking for a technically strong, hands\-on developer who can take ownership of improving, debugging and expanding our existing systems.

• *What You’ll Work On**

• **Backend Development:** Work with our existing Node.js codebase, troubleshoot issues and develop new features.
• **WhatsApp Business API:** Debug and optimize WhatsApp API integration, including templates, webhooks, message delivery and automated communication.
• **CRM Development:** Improve lead management, appointment scheduling, patient follow\-ups, task assignments and workflow reliability.
• **Automation:** Build and maintain event\-driven workflows, reminders, notifications and third\-party API integrations.
• **AI Integration:** Explore practical applications of LLMs and AI agents for patient communication, internal productivity and workflow automation.
• **System Reliability:** Identify bugs, implement fixes, maintain logs and document technical changes.

• *Must\-Have Skills**

• Strong working knowledge of JavaScript and Node.js
• Experience building and debugging REST APIs
• Understanding of databases and backend architecture
• Familiarity with Git, Postman and API troubleshooting
• Ability to understand an existing codebase and solve problems independently
• At least one substantial deployed backend project

• *Strongly Preferred**

• Experience with Meta WhatsApp Cloud API or similar messaging integrations
• Experience with webhooks, authentication and asynchronous jobs
• Familiarity with CRM systems and automation workflows
• Experience integrating OpenAI or other LLM APIs

• *Who Should Apply?**

Final\-year engineering students, recent graduates and junior developers with strong practical backend experience.
