Backend Developer – HIMS

Experience: 3–5 Years

Location: Bhubaneswar, Odisha (on\-site). Candidates must be comfortable working on\-site; local candidates prefer.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced backend developer with 3–5 years of hands\-on experience in backend development and a strong understanding of Hospital Information Management Systems (HIMS). The ideal candidate should have experience developing and maintaining backend applications, designing APIs, managing databases, and implementing healthcare\-related software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and optimize backend applications for HIMS and healthcare\-related systems.

Design, develop, and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services.

Work with databases to manage, store, retrieve, and optimize application data.

Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, and other team members to deliver reliable solutions.

Implement business logic, data validation, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.

Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend application issues.

Ensure application performance, scalability, security, and data integrity.

Understand hospital workflows and integrate relevant modules such as patient management, appointments, billing, laboratory, pharmacy, and electronic medical records, as applicable.

Write clean, maintainable, and well\-documented code.

Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and ongoing application maintenance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

3–5 years of professional experience in backend development.

Prior experience working on HIMS (Hospital Information Management System) or healthcare\-related software projects.

Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language, such as Java, Python, Node.js, PHP, or .NET.

Experience developing and integrating REST APIs and web services.

Good knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.

Understanding of database design, query optimization, and data management.

Knowledge of authentication, authorization, application security, and error handling.

Experience with Git or other version control systems.

Strong debugging, analytical, and problem\-solving skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in an on\-site project environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with hospital workflows and healthcare data management.

Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 or FHIR.

Experience integrating third\-party healthcare systems, laboratory systems, pharmacy systems, or billing platforms.

Knowledge of cloud platforms, deployment processes, and application performance optimization.
