Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services)

• *Experience:** 1\-3 years \| **Department:** MEP / Building Services Design

• *Role Summary**

Design and deliver electrical systems for commercial, residential, healthcare, hospitality, and mixed\-use buildings in a design consultancy setting, supporting projects from concept through construction stages.

• *Key Responsibilities**

• Prepare electrical design calculations: load, cable sizing, voltage drop, short circuit, earthing, and lighting
• Develop schematic and detailed designs for LV distribution, lighting, small power, emergency power, and UPS systems
• Produce and review drawings, SLDs, layouts, and schedules in AutoCAD
• Prepare technical specifications, BOQs, and material approval submittals
• Review contractor shop drawings, RFIs, and material submittals
• Coordinate with architects, structural, mechanical, and plumbing teams to resolve clashes
• Support fire alarm, ELV, security, and lightning protection design
• Conduct site visits and assist in inspection, testing, and commissioning
• Ensure compliance with local authority regulations and codes (IEC, NEC, BS 7671, NFPA, or regional equivalents)
• Support design reviews, QA checks, and client presentations

• *Required Qualifications**

• B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical \& Electronics Engineering
• 1\-3 years in building services or MEP design consultancy
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Proficiency with design software such as DIALux / Relux, ETAP, or similar
• Understanding of LV systems, transformers, generators, and distribution boards
• Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards
• Good command of MS Office (Excel for calculations)

• *Preferred Skills**

• Exposure to sustainability / green building standards (LEED, WELL, Estidama, IGBC)
• Knowledge of fire alarm, PA, CCTV, and access control basics
• Professional certification in progress (e.g., chartered engineer, PE, or local licensing)
