Role Overview

We are seeking a detail\-oriented and analytically strong Equity Research Analyst to conduct fundamental research on listed companies across the BFSI and Consumer Goods sectors. The candidate will be responsible for financial analysis, valuation modelling, industry research and the preparation of high\-quality research reports to support investment decisions.

The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of financial statements, business fundamentals, valuation methodologies and sector\-specific operating metrics.

Key Responsibilities

1\. Fundamental Equity Research

• Conduct detailed fundamental research on listed companies across Banking, NBFCs, Insurance, Capital Markets, Asset Management and Consumer Goods.
• Analyse company business models, competitive positioning, growth drivers, management quality, corporate governance and industry dynamics.
• Track quarterly and annual financial results, management commentary, investor presentations, earnings calls and regulatory developments.
• Identify investment opportunities by evaluating business fundamentals, earnings potential, valuation and associated risks.

2\. Financial Modelling and Valuation

• Build and maintain integrated financial models, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow projections.
• Prepare earnings forecasts and conduct sensitivity and scenario analyses.
• Apply appropriate valuation methodologies, including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Comparable Company Analysis, Price\-to\-Earnings (P/E), Price\-to\-Book (P/B) and other relevant sector\-specific multiples.
• Develop target prices, investment theses and Buy/Hold/Sell recommendations, as applicable to the role.

3\. Sector\-Specific Research

• *BFSI Coverage**

• Analyse banks, NBFCs, insurance companies, asset management companies and other financial services businesses.
• Evaluate metrics such as Net Interest Margin (NIM), asset quality, Gross and Net NPAs, credit costs, capital adequacy, loan growth, return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE) and solvency ratios, as relevant.
• Assess credit growth, deposit mobilisation, underwriting standards, regulatory changes and financial\-sector trends.

• *Consumer Goods Coverage**

• Analyse FMCG, consumer durables and other consumer\-oriented businesses.
• Evaluate revenue growth, volume growth, pricing, product mix, gross margins, operating margins, distribution strength and market share.
• Assess consumer demand, competitive intensity, raw material costs, brand positioning, pricing power and changing consumption patterns.

4\. Research Reports and Investment Communication

• Prepare detailed company initiation reports, quarterly result updates, sector reports and thematic research.
• Present investment recommendations supported by financial analysis, valuation assumptions, catalysts and downside risks.
• Communicate research findings to portfolio managers, investment committees, institutional clients or other stakeholders, as applicable.
• Monitor portfolio companies and update investment views in response to material business and financial developments.

5\. Data Analysis and Industry Monitoring

• Analyse annual reports, financial statements, stock exchange disclosures, regulatory filings and industry reports.
• Maintain financial databases, valuation comparables, earnings estimates and sector trackers.
• Monitor macroeconomic indicators, interest rates, inflation, commodity prices and regulatory developments affecting covered sectors.

Required Qualifications

• CA, CFA, MBA (Finance), or equivalent qualification.
• Strong academic and analytical foundation in finance, accounting and valuation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.
• Strong report\-writing, research and presentation skills.

Preferred Experience and Skills

• 2–6 years of relevant experience in equity research, investment research, portfolio management, institutional research or a related financial analysis role.
• Prior experience covering BFSI and/or Consumer Goods companies.
• Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, valuation techniques and capital markets.
• Familiarity with Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Capitaline, Ace Equity or similar financial research platforms is an advantage.
• Ability to interpret financial data, develop independent investment views and work within research timelines.
• Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity and professional integrity.
