Job Description

  • *About the Role**

Spartan Fitness is a premium fitness destination in Gurgaon, part of a fast\-growing wellness group with international roots and an ambitious expansion roadmap. We are building our finance function from the ground up and are looking for a hands\-on Finance Manager to take complete ownership of it.

This is a foundational hire. You will not be inheriting an existing team or set of processes — you will be the person who builds them. The ideal candidate can operate at both ends: rolling up their sleeves on day\-to\-day accounting and cash management, while also setting up the systems, controls, and reporting that a scaling, internationally funded business needs. Over time, this role carries the opportunity to build and lead a finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • *Accounting \& Bookkeeping**
  • Own end\-to\-end bookkeeping and maintain accurate, up\-to\-date books of account.
  • Set up and standardise accounting processes, chart of accounts, and month\-end close routines.
  • Ensure correct revenue recognition across membership plans, personal training packages, café/F\&B, and retail — including treatment of prepaid memberships and deferred revenue.
  • *Taxation \& Statutory Compliance**
  • **Maintain up\-to\-date, working knowledge of all applicable taxation rules** — GST and direct tax — and ensure the company stays current with changes in the law.
  • Manage all GST compliance — registrations, monthly/quarterly returns, reconciliations, and input credit management.
  • Handle direct taxation — corporate tax, advance tax, TDS deduction, deposit, and return filing.
  • Ensure timely ROC/MCA and other statutory filings applicable to a private limited company.
  • Keep the company audit\-ready and compliant at all times.
  • *Cross\-Border / FDI Compliance**
  • Act as the internal point of contact for matters relating to foreign capital inflows and the company’s foreign\-entity ownership structure.
  • Liaise closely with the external accounting/CA firm to ensure all RBI reporting and FEMA\-related filings tied to foreign investment are completed accurately and on time — providing the documentation and information they require.
  • Coordinate with banks (AD bankers) and the parent entity on inward remittances and related documentation.
  • *Payments \& Treasury**
  • Initiate, process, and manage all company payments — vendors, payroll, statutory dues, and operational expenses.
  • **Own cash management, cash handling, and cash deposits** — oversee daily cash collections, ensure secure handling, and manage timely bank deposits and reconciliation.
  • Monitor cash flow, maintain liquidity, and manage day\-to\-day banking relationships.
  • Implement and enforce payment controls and approval workflows.
  • *Budgeting \& Reporting**
  • Prepare the annual budget and track actuals against budget through the year.
  • Build and deliver a monthly management dashboard covering sales, revenue, expenses, cash position, and key financial metrics.
  • Provide timely, data\-dense reporting and analysis to support management decision\-making.
  • *Audit \& Controls**
  • Establish and run internal audit and internal control processes.
  • Work closely with the external accounting/CA firm and statutory auditors.
  • Identify financial risks and gaps, and put controls in place to address them.
  • *Payroll \& Vendor Management**
  • Manage payroll processing and related statutory compliance (PF, ESI, professional tax as applicable).
  • Manage vendor accounts, reconciliations, and accounts payable.
  • *Requirements**
  • **5\+ years** of relevant experience in finance and accounting, ideally with some exposure to a single\-entity or fast\-scaling business where you owned the function.
  • Strong, practical, end\-to\-end knowledge of **bookkeeping, GST, and direct taxation** — not just oversight, but the ability to do the work.
  • **Up\-to\-date knowledge of all current taxation rules** (GST and direct tax) and the ability to keep the company compliant as regulations change.
  • Working understanding of **FDI rules and regulations** — foreign capital inflow, RBI reporting, and FEMA compliance for companies with foreign ownership — enough to manage the topic and coordinate effectively with the CA firm handling the filings.
  • Experience preparing **management reporting and dashboards** (sales and finance).
  • Hands\-on experience with **cash management, cash handling, cash deposits, and payments processing**.
  • Experience with **budgeting** and **internal audit / internal controls**.
  • Comfortable coordinating with external CA firms, auditors, and consultants.
  • Professional qualification preferred — CA / CA (Inter) / CMA / MBA Finance / M.Com.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (Tally / Zoho Books / QuickBooks or similar) and strong Excel skills.
  • Self\-starter who can take charge, build from scratch, and work with minimal supervision.
  • *Good to Have**
  • Prior experience in fitness, wellness, hospitality, retail, or another multi\-revenue\-stream consumer business.
  • Exposure to cross\-border structures, convertible instruments, or working with an overseas parent/promoter.
  • Experience setting up finance processes and systems in a new or growing organisation.
  • *What We Offer**
  • The chance to work in an energetic environment with a young and dynamic team.
  • Complimentary access to all current and upcoming fitness centres. All employee benefits with respect to meal plans and other services.
  • Comprehensive health insurance.
  • The opportunity to build and lead the finance team, and grow up the ladder as the business scales.
  • The experience of working with an international fitness brand.
