Job Description

• **12\+ years of experience** in data engineering, data platform, or data architecture roles (with **4\+ years** on **Google Cloud Platform**)

• **Deep expertise in BigQuery** architecture, performance tuning, cost optimization, and data modeling

• Strong understanding of **modern data architecture patterns** (lakehouse, medallion/bronze\-silver\-gold, data mesh—where applicable)

• Hands\-on knowledge of GCP data services including: **Cloud Storage**, **Dataflow** (Apache Beam), **Dataproc** (Spark), **Pub/Sub**, **Cloud Composer** (Airflow), **Dataform**, **Cloud Functions/Cloud Run**

• Experience with **data governance and metadata management** using **Dataplex** and/or **Data Catalog** (or equivalent tools)

• Strong skills in **SQL** and one programming language (**Python** preferred)

• Proficiency with **CI/CD** and **Infrastructure\-as\-Code** (Terraform preferred) for GCP deployments

• Strong stakeholder management skills; ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical architectures

• Google Cloud certifications preferred (e.g., **Professional Cloud Architect**, **Professional Data Engineer**)

• Define the **end\-to\-end data platform architecture** on GCP (ingestion, storage, processing, serving/consumption) aligned to business outcomes

• Design enterprise\-scale **data lake / lakehouse / warehouse** solutions leveraging **BigQuery** and **Cloud Storage, including data domain organization and layering strategy**

• **Establish standards for** **data modeling** **(dimensional, data vault, canonical models) and ensure consistency across data products**

• **Architect batch and streaming ingestion patterns using** **Dataflow****,** **Dataproc****,** **Pub/Sub****, and orchestration with** **Cloud Composer**

• **Define and enforce** **data governance****, including metadata, lineage, cataloging, data quality controls, retention, and lifecycle management (Dataplex/Data Catalog where applicable)**

• **Lead** **cloud migration and modernization** **efforts from on\-prem or other clouds, defining target state, cutover approach, and validation strategy**

• **Provide architectural review and guidance to engineering teams; mentor engineers and promote reusable reference architectures and best practices**
