Role Overview

SUN Mobility is looking for an experienced **Head – Direct Purchase** to lead strategic sourcing, direct\-material procurement, supplier development, and purchasing operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in manufacturing procurement, cost optimisation, supplier negotiations, and supply chain resilience, with the ability to build a scalable procurement function that supports business growth.

The role will be responsible for ensuring competitive sourcing, reliable material availability, supplier capacity development, and sustained cost efficiencies across critical mechanical, electronic, and battery\-related components.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead strategic sourcing and direct\-material procurement to achieve cost competitiveness and supply reliability.
• Drive **5–7% year\-on\-year reduction in per\-unit non\-cell BOM costs** through sourcing strategies, negotiations, and value engineering.
• Identify, qualify, and develop alternate suppliers for critical and single\-source components.
• Strengthen supplier capacity, tooling readiness, and localisation strategies to support the company's three\-year growth plans.
• Own purchase order execution, supplier delivery performance, and procurement\-related operational reviews.
• Maintain **95% or higher material availability** while minimising production stoppages caused by supply constraints.
• Negotiate pricing, tooling costs, payment terms, warranties, liabilities, quality expectations, and delivery commitments.
• Build and lead a high\-performing procurement team with clear accountability and performance metrics.
• Establish ERP\-based procurement reviews, supplier performance dashboards, and data\-driven decision\-making processes.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, finance, and supply chain teams to align sourcing strategies with business and production requirements.
• Proactively identify supply risks and implement mitigation plans to ensure continuity of supply.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• 18–22 years of relevant experience in strategic sourcing, direct procurement, purchasing, and supplier development.
• Demonstrated experience leading procurement functions in manufacturing or product\-based organisations.
• Proven track record of delivering measurable cost reductions and procurement efficiencies.
• Strong working knowledge of mechanical manufacturing components, electronics, and battery\-related components.
• Experience in developing alternate sources for critical or single\-source materials.
• Demonstrated expertise in supplier negotiations and commercial agreements covering pricing, tooling, payment terms, warranties, liabilities, and delivery commitments.
• Experience in supplier capacity planning, localisation, and long\-term sourcing strategy.
• Strong understanding of purchase order management, material planning, supplier performance, and ERP\-based procurement processes.
• Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
