Job Summary
The ISBM Production Engineer is responsible for operating, monitoring, and optimizing Injection Stretch Blow Molding (ISBM) production processes to ensure the achievement of production targets while maintaining product quality, machine efficiency, and safety standards. The role involves machine setup, process optimization, troubleshooting, manpower management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Operations
- Plan and execute daily production activities as per the production schedule.
- Operate and monitor ISBM machines for efficient production.
- Ensure achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
- Minimize machine downtime and production losses.
- Monitor production parameters and optimize machine performance.
- Ensure smooth changeovers and startup of production lines.
Process Control
- Set and optimize machine process parameters.
- Conduct process validation for new molds and products.
- Troubleshoot defects such as:
- Short shot
- Flash
- Uneven wall thickness
- Pearlescence
- Haze
- Bubble formation
- Black spots
- Sink marks
- Neck defects
- Bottle deformation
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Quality Assurance
- Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate with QA/QC for in\-process inspections.
- Maintain rejection levels within target limits.
- Analyze rejection trends and implement improvement measures.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs, Work Instructions, and Quality Management Systems.
Machine \& Mold Management
- Coordinate with the Maintenance department for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Monitor mold performance and coordinate mold maintenance.
- Ensure proper machine startup and shutdown procedures.
- Verify availability of molds, auxiliaries, and utilities before production.
Manpower Management
- Supervise operators and production helpers.
- Allocate manpower effectively across shifts.
- Train operators on machine operation, safety, and quality requirements.
- Monitor discipline, attendance, and productivity of the workforce.
Production Planning \& Documentation
- Prepare daily production reports.
- Maintain production logs and machine parameter records.
- Record downtime, rejection, and machine efficiency data.
- Coordinate with Planning, Stores, Maintenance, and QA departments.
Safety \& Housekeeping
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and PPE requirements.
- Promote 5S and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in the production area.
- Participate in safety audits and risk assessments.
Continuous Improvement
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma initiatives.
- Improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
- Reduce cycle time, scrap, and material wastage.
- Optimize production costs through process improvements.
Educational Qualification
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Plastic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- **2–6 years** of experience in ISBM production within the Plastic Packaging industry.
- Experience with PET bottle manufacturing is preferred.
Pay: ₹300,000\.00 \- ₹600,000\.00 per year
