Job Description
Role Overview
We are looking for an M.Tech engineer with expertise in communication and control systems for mesh networking technologies. You will design, implement and test self\-forming, self\-healing mesh links for drone swarms and ground units. You will also tie those links into the command\-and\-control loops that keep the platforms flying safely.
Key Responsibilities
- *Mesh communication design**
- Design and implement mobile ad\-hoc / mesh networks (MANET, FANET) for drone\-to\-drone, drone\-to\-ground and ground\-to\-ground links.
- Select and configure radios and protocols (e.g. 802\.11s, BATMAN\-adv, OLSR, Silvus/Doodle\-class MANET radios, LoRa mesh) for range, throughput and latency targets.
- Develop link\-budget, RF propagation and coverage analyses for line\-of\-sight, beyond\-line\-of\-sight and high\-altitude terrain.
- Design routing, topology control and self\-healing behaviour for networks of changing size and shape.
- *Control systems**
- Design and tune control loops for UAV flight, payload and gimbal systems, including latency\-tolerant command\-and\-control over the mesh.
- Integrate telemetry and command links (MAVLink and similar) with flight controllers (PX4 / ArduPilot) and ground control stations.
- Develop distributed / cooperative control for swarms: formation keeping, consensus and task coordination over the network.
- *Security \& resilience**
- Implement link encryption, authentication and key management suited to defence use.
- Design for jamming and interference resilience: frequency hopping, adaptive modulation, multi\-band fallback.
- *Simulation, integration \& testing**
- Model networks and control behaviour in simulation (ns\-3, OMNeT\+\+, MATLAB/Simulink) before hardware trials.
- Integrate radios, antennas and embedded hardware on airframes and ground nodes; support EMI/EMC checks.
- Plan and run field trials, measure throughput, latency, packet loss and range, and feed results back into the design.
- Prepare technical documentation, test reports and inputs for tenders and RFIs.
Required Qualifications
- **M.Tech** in Communication Systems / Electronics \& Communication / Control Systems / Wireless Networks / Avionics or a closely related field.
- Strong fundamentals in digital communication, RF and wireless networking: modulation, coding, link budgets, MAC and routing.
- Hands\-on experience with **mesh / ad\-hoc networking** (802\.11s, BATMAN\-adv, OLSR, AODV or MANET radios).
- Strong grounding in **control theory**: PID, state\-space, stability analysis and digital control.
- Proficiency in **MATLAB/Simulink** and at least one network simulator (**ns\-3, OMNeT\+\+** or equivalent).
- Programming in **C/C\+\+ and Python**; working knowledge of Linux networking.
- Demonstrated project work on wireless or UAV communication: thesis, publications, competitions or industry projects.
Preferred Skills
- Software\-defined radio (SDR) experience: GNU Radio, USRP, HackRF or similar.
- Experience with MAVLink, PX4 / ArduPilot and ground control stations.
- Embedded development on ARM / STM32 / NVIDIA Jetson / OpenWrt platforms.
- Familiarity with ROS / ROS 2 and multi\-agent / distributed control.
- Knowledge of anti\-jamming techniques, FHSS / DSSS, and secure communication protocols.
- Antenna basics and RF test equipment (spectrum analyser, VNA).
- Awareness of WPC/ETA spectrum rules, DGCA Drone Rules 2021 and defence QA documentation.
Key Attributes
- Systematic debugging from RF layer to application layer.
- Clear technical writing and communication.
- Ownership mindset and comfort in a fast\-moving startup team.
- Willingness to travel for field trials, including high\-altitude and remote locations.
Eligibility
- Indian nationality is required, as the role involves defence\-related projects.
- Candidates may need to undergo background verification and security clearance.
How to Apply
Applications without the mandatory documents below will not be considered.
- *Mandatory documents**
1\. **Detailed CV** in the prescribed format, covering education, communication/control tools used, and mesh or UAV communication projects with your role in each.
2\. **Experience certificate(s)** on the employer's letterhead, signed and stamped by an authorised signatory, stating designation, period of employment and nature of work in communication / control systems.
3\. **M.Tech degree certificate and marksheets** (provisional certificate accepted for recent graduates).
- *Supporting documents (preferred)**
- Project reports, test results, code repositories or publications.
- M.Tech thesis abstract.
Send all documents as PDFs to **careers@p9e.in** with the subject line **"Application – Communication \& Control Systems Engineer"**. Shortlisted candidates must produce originals for verification.
