Your role encompasses a broad set of responsibilities, including supply chain services, inventory control, and ensuring critical parts availability through enterprise warehouse and inventory systems. Your skilled analysis will support production planning and volume studies. Your expertise will be pivotal in optimizing Lam's logistics plans for seamless operations.
- *What you’ll do**
- -----------------
- Analyze shipment, order and SKU\-level data to identify packaging drivers of freight cost (dimensional weight, cube utilization, damage/returns, accessorial, split shipments).
- Develop and maintain packing standards (carton selection, void fill, dunnage, pallet patterns, max stack height) to balance cost, protection, and productivity.
- Lead carton utilization and right\-sizing initiatives to reduce box count, corrugate usage and dimensional weight charges.
- Optimize pallet utilization and load building (pallet footprint, ti/hi, stretch wrap, corner boards) to improve trailer/container fill rates and reduce LTL/FTL cost per unit.
- Analysis Tilt/Shock watch utilization and work with respective product group to evaluate alternate options to reduce freight cost and ensure product safety.
- Conduct packaging trials (ISTA/transport simulation as applicable) and implement changes using controlled pilots and standard work updates.
- Partner with Transportation/Logistics to align packaging with carrier constraints (size/weight limits, NMFC/Freight class, minimum charges, surcharges).
- Collaborate with Procurement and suppliers to source cost\-effective packaging materials and manage specifications, MOQs, and lead times.
- Track packaging\-related KPIs and savings (cost per shipment, DIM impact, damage rate) and provide regular reporting/dashboards.
- Support continuous improvement (Kaizen/Lean) in packing workstations to improve ergonomics, throughput, and quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8 years of experience in packaging, warehouse operations \& transportation
- Working knowledge of freight cost drivers including dimensional weight (DIM), cube utilization and accessorial charges.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data cleansing); experience with SQL/BI tools is a plus.
- Ability to translate analysis into standard work, train operators and sustain changes on the floor.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management across operations, logistics, and procurement.
- *Preferred qualifications**
- ---------------------------
- Background in Packaging Engineering or experience with packaging testing standards (e.g., ISTA) and damage reduction programs.
- Experience with cartonization/pack optimization tools, WMS/TMS systems, or shipping platforms.
- Understanding of LTL concepts including NMFC, freight class, density, and reweigh/reclass processes.
- Lean/Six Sigma certification (Yellow/Green Belt) or demonstrated continuous improvement leadership.
- *Our commitment**
- -----------------
We believe it is important for every person to feel valued, included, and empowered to achieve their full potential. By bringing unique individuals and viewpoints together, we achieve extraordinary results.
