Mid-Level Software Engineer (3-6 years)

• *About the role**

Join a small, high\-impact team building a new smart home platform from the ground up. You'll work directly with an Australia\-based team, writing the software that controls real hardware in real homes — not features bolted onto someone else's legacy stack.

This is a greenfield build with real ownership and long\-term impact. You'll help define the architecture, systems, and engineering standards from day one, with a genuine long\-term product roadmap ahead of you.

• *What you'll do**

• Own features from spec through to production
• Primarily work in your strongest area (frontend or backend), with opportunities to contribute across the stack
• Build using TypeScript, React, Node, and PostgreSQL
• Design APIs and data models alongside other engineers
• Write clean, tested, maintainable code
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with the team
• Work closely with a senior engineer and help mentor other members of the team

• *What we're looking for**

• **3\-6 years** of software engineering experience
• **Strong experience** in either: **React frontend, or Node.js / backend development**
• Comfortable working across different parts of a system when needed
• Experience with **APIs** and **databases** (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Familiarity with **cloud deployments (AWS** or similar)
• Good communication, especially written (remote team)

• *Nice to have**

• Experience with TypeScript across the stack
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar)
• SaaS or multi\-tenant systems
• Mobile experience (React Native or similar)
• Experience working on early\-stage or greenfield products

• *How we work**

• Small team (5 engineers) building a new product
• Remote\-first with overlap in APAC hours
