Network Security Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and security\-focused Network Security Engineer to protect the organisation's IT infrastructure, networks, and sensitive data from cyber threats. The candidate will be responsible for configuring security systems, monitoring network traffic, managing firewalls, identifying vulnerabilities, troubleshooting security incidents, and implementing security policies to ensure a secure and reliable network environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain network security infrastructure to protect company systems and data.
• Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and intrusion prevention systems (IPS).
• Monitor network traffic and security logs to identify suspicious activities and potential threats.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and support penetration testing activities.
• Investigate security incidents, troubleshoot network security issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage access controls, authentication mechanisms, and network security policies.
• Maintain secure configurations for routers, switches, servers, and network devices.
• Implement network segmentation and secure remote\-access solutions.
• Monitor and update security tools, firmware, patches, and configurations.
• Support incident response, root\-cause analysis, and recovery activities.
• Maintain documentation of network architecture, security configurations, incidents, and changes.
• Coordinate with IT infrastructure, system administration, and cybersecurity teams.
• Ensure compliance with applicable information security standards and organisational policies.
• Conduct periodic security reviews and recommend improvements to reduce risks.
• Provide technical support for network connectivity and security\-related issues.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in network engineering, network security, or IT infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, and subnetting.
• Hands\-on experience with firewall technologies such as Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, or Check Point.
• Knowledge of VPN technologies, IDS/IPS, access control, and network monitoring tools.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat detection, and vulnerability management.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux networking environments.
• Knowledge of SIEM tools and security log analysis is an advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem\-solving skills.
• Good communication, documentation, and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Experience managing enterprise network security infrastructure.
• Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP Security, CompTIA Security\+, Fortinet NSE/FCP, or equivalent are an advantage.
• Knowledge of ISO 27001, security audits, and risk management practices.
• Ability to respond to security incidents and work under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to security.
• Willingness to participate in on\-call support or rotational shifts when required.
