JOB DESCRIPTION: PLANT HEAD/PLANT MANAGER

1\. Purpose

To lead and manage overall plant operations, ensuring efficient production, consistent product quality, food safety compliance, cost optimization, effective resource utilization, and timely delivery of finished products. The Plant Head will be responsible for driving operational excellence and coordinating with Production, QA/QC, R\&D/NPD, Procurement, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Dispatch teams.

2\. Key Responsibilities

A. Production \& Plant Operations

\* Plan, organize, and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production activities.

\* Ensure production targets are achieved as per customer demand and delivery schedules.

\* Optimize manpower, machinery, raw materials, and utilities.

\* Monitor production efficiency, yield, wastage, and downtime.

\* Ensure adherence to approved SOPs, process parameters, and batch manufacturing records.

\* Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve productivity.

B. Quality Assurance \& Food Safety

\* Ensure compliance with FSSAI requirements and applicable food safety regulations.

\* Implement and maintain GMP, GHP, HACCP, hygiene, and sanitation practices.

\* Coordinate with QA/QC to maintain consistent product quality and specifications.

\* Ensure proper handling of deviations, customer complaints, non\-conformities, and CAPA.

\* Maintain traceability, batch records, quality documentation, and product\-release procedures.

\* Support internal, external, regulatory, and customer audits.

C. Production Planning \& Inventory Management

\* Coordinate with sales, procurement, and warehouse teams for production planning.

\* Ensure the availability of raw materials, packaging materials, and other resources.

\* Monitor stock levels, material consumption, and inventory accuracy.

\* Minimize material losses, excess inventory, and production delays.

\* Ensure proper storage conditions, FIFO/FEFO practices, and material traceability.

D. Cost Control \& Operational Excellence

\* Control manufacturing costs, material wastage, manpower expenses, and utility consumption.

\* Monitor production KPIs, including OEE, yield, productivity, and rejection rates.

\* Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.

\* Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and reduce operating costs.

\* Prepare and review production performance reports and operational budgets.

E. Maintenance \& Engineering

\* Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance of plant equipment.

\* Coordinate with the maintenance team to minimize unplanned downtime.

\* Ensure equipment safety, calibration, and operational reliability.

\* Monitor utility consumption and ensure efficient use of electricity, water, and other resources.

\* Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures and applicable statutory requirements.

F. R\&D/NPD Coordination

\* Collaborate with R\&D/NPD teams for new product trials and commercialization.

\* Support pilot trials, production\-scale trials, and process validation.

\* Ensure smooth transfer of new products from development to commercial manufacturing.

\* Identify production challenges and recommend improvements in
