Job Description
### **About Origin**
Origin (previously 10xConstruction) is building general\-purpose autonomous robots for US construction to tackle rising costs, safety risks and labour shortages. Our modular, multi\-trade platform combines purpose\-built hardware with real\-time site intelligence to navigate complex environments and execute tasks with precision. Trained in high\-fidelity simulation and already deployed on live sites, our robots deliver faster execution, stronger project economics and meaningful cost savings. Join India's talent\-dense robotics team, with colleagues from IITs, Stanford, UCLA and other leading institutions.
### **About the role**
Our robots do real construction work, and every robot we ship must deliver work customers can trust. As a Product Quality Tester, you will operate our construction robot, run QA tests from start to finish and check the quality of the finished work. You will be the QA team's eyes on the ground: your observations, photos and reports help QA decide what passes, what fails and what needs fixing before the product reaches customers.
### **What you will do**
### **Run tests**
- Pre\-run check: Before each QA run, confirm the walls and drywall are installed correctly and the test area is safe and ready.
- Operate the construction robot: Operate the robot end to end, following QA guidance.
- QA test runs: Run QA tests across the full robot workflow, following each procedure step by step.
- Record: Note observations and measurements for every test case.
### **Check the robot's work**
- Inspect: After each run, check the finished work, coverage and quality as per the protocol defined by QA.
- Find rework: Identify and measure any rework that still needs to be done by humans.
- Capture: Take clear photos and videos of every defect.
### **Report to QA**
- Log behavior: Keep a time\-stamped log of what the robot does during each test.
- Write reports: Write test reports as per QA guidance, showing clearly what failed, where and how.
- Support decisions: Share clear, detailed results on every test and scenario so QA can decide to pass or fail.
- Flag issues: Report any missing or damaged part, or anything that could affect product quality for the customer, to the QA engineer. Raise safety or blocking problems immediately.
- Close the loop: Log issues in the tracker, retest after fixes and confirm each issue is closed.
### **Maintain robots and tools**
- Robot care: Carry out user\-level maintenance to keep the robots healthy and ready for testing.
- Tool management: Track, store and look after tools and equipment, and report anything missing or damaged to the QA engineer.
- Compliance: Take part in compliance checks for robots and tools, and keep the records up to date.
### **Every day**
- Safety first: Follow site safety rules and test area protocols at all times.
- Stay organized: Keep tools, materials and the test area clean and in order.
- Improve: Suggest clearer test steps when a procedure is confusing or out of date.
### **Who you are**
- Education: B.Tech or Diploma in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 0–2 years on a construction site or in quality testing of mixtures, products or construction materials. Freshers are welcome; construction lab or project work is a plus.
- Open to all: Non\-technical candidates who are keen to learn and ready to work hard.
- Computer: Comfortable working on a computer.
- Fitness: Physically fit to work on construction sites and run long, hands\-on test sessions.
### **Skills required**
### **Technical**
- Judging finished work for coverage, quality and human rework.
- Reading and following test procedures and QA rules accurately.
- Writing clear, timely logs and test reports.
- Excel and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint).
- Using AI tools like Claude, with good prompts, to draft reports and summarize results.
### **Soft skills**
- A sharp eye for detail and patience with repeated tests.
- Helps the QA team and follows procedures exactly, asking when something is unclear.
- Good spoken and written English is a must. Hindi is a plus.
- Adaptable, quick to learn and hardworking.
- Disciplined, with strong follow\-up on every task.
- Eager to take on new challenges and deliver results.
### **Good to have**
- Exposure to construction sites or drywall installation, or basic construction knowledge.
- Basic knowledge of testing.
- Familiarity with software apps used in construction.
- Experience with a bug or task tracker such as Asana.
- Reading and writing documents in Confluence.
### **Why join us**
- Work hands\-on with real construction robots that are already on live job sites.
- Be guided by clear, written procedures and step\-by\-step support from the QA team.
- A real chance to learn and grow your career in robotics testing and product quality.
