QC Head

1\. Job Purpose

To lead and manage the overall Quality Control function of the extraction plant, ensuring that all raw materials, in\-process materials, finished products and production processes meet defined quality standards, customer specifications and applicable statutory requirements. The role involves establishing quality systems, monitoring production quality, managing laboratory operations and ensuring continuous improvement in product quality.

2\. Key Roles \& Responsibilities

• *A. Raw Material Quality Control**

• Ensure inspection and testing of all incoming raw materials before approval for production.
• Establish quality parameters and acceptance criteria for raw materials.
• Monitor quality of incoming materials, chemicals, solvents and other consumables.
• Coordinate with the purchase and stores departments regarding material quality issues.
• Maintain proper records of raw material inspection and rejection.

• *B. Process \& Production Quality Control**

• Monitor quality at every stage of the extraction and manufacturing process.
• Ensure adherence to approved SOPs, process parameters and quality standards.
• Conduct regular checks of extraction, filtration, evaporation, purification and other relevant processes.
• Identify process deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate with the production team to minimize quality\-related losses and rejections.

• *C. Finished Product Quality Control**

• Ensure testing and approval of finished products before dispatch.
• Establish and monitor product specifications, including purity, moisture, colour, viscosity, density, assay and other relevant parameters as applicable.
• Ensure proper sampling, testing and documentation of finished goods.
• Investigate customer complaints and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure consistency in product quality across different production batches.

• *D. Laboratory Management**

• Manage the QC laboratory and ensure availability of required testing facilities.
• Ensure proper calibration, maintenance and validation of laboratory instruments.
• Supervise laboratory personnel and allocate responsibilities.
• Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
• Maintain laboratory records, test reports and Certificates of Analysis (COA).
• Ensure proper handling, storage and disposal of laboratory chemicals and samples.

• *E. Quality Systems \& Compliance**

• Develop, implement and maintain quality management systems.
• Ensure compliance with applicable ISO standards, statutory regulations and customer\-specific requirements.
• Conduct internal quality audits and coordinate external audits.
• Ensure proper documentation of SOPs, inspection reports, test reports and quality records.
• Monitor non\-conformities and ensure timely closure of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

• *F. Team Management \& Coordination**

• Lead, train and supervise the QC team, including chemists, laboratory technicians and quality inspectors.
• Conduct regular training on testing procedures, safety and quality standards.
• Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Purchase, Stores and Dispatch departments.
• Promote a quality\-oriented work culture throughout the organization.

• *G. Continuous Improvement**

• Identify opportunities to improve product quality and reduce rejection rates.
• Analyse quality\-related data and prepare periodic performance reports.
• Implement measures to reduce process variations, wastage and quality losses.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in laboratory testing and production quality.

3\. Educational Qualifications

• M.Sc. in Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry / Industrial Chemistry.
• B.Sc. Chemistry may be considered with substantial relevant industry experience.
• Additional qualifications in Quality Management, ISO systems or relevant technical certifications will be preferred.

4\. Experience

• **Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Quality Control** in an extraction, chemical, solvent extraction, edible oil, oleochemical or allied manufacturing industry.
• At least **3–5 years of experience in a leadership or managerial position**.
• Practical experience in laboratory management, analytical testing, process quality control and quality management systems is essential.

5\. Technical Skills \& Competencies

• Strong knowledge of chemical analysis and laboratory testing procedures.
• Working knowledge of analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, UV\-Visible Spectrophotometer, Karl Fischer, and other relevant instruments.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and other applicable quality standards.
• Strong understanding of SOP preparation, CAPA, root cause analysis and quality audits.
• Knowledge of extraction processes, solvent handling and process quality parameters.
• Good analytical, problem\-solving and decision\-making abilities.
• Strong leadership, communication and team management skills.

6\. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The performance of the Head – QC will be evaluated based on

• Reduction in customer complaints and product rejection rates.
• Percentage of batches meeting defined quality specifications.
• Accuracy and timeliness of laboratory testing and reporting.
• Timely closure of non\-conformities and CAPA.
• Compliance with quality standards and audit requirements.
• Reduction in quality\-related production losses and wastage.
• Calibration and maintenance compliance of laboratory equipment.
• Training and performance development of QC personnel.

7\. Key Reporting \& Coordination

• Reports to: Plant Head / General Manager.
• Supervises: QC Chemists, Laboratory Technicians and Quality Inspectors.
• Coordinates with: Production, Maintenance, Purchase, Stores, Dispatch and Management.

• *Overall Accountability:** The Head – QC shall be responsible for ensuring that every batch of raw material, in\-process material and finished product meets the organization's defined quality standards before being approved for further processing or dispatch.

Pay: ₹40,000\.00 \- ₹70,000\.00 per month
