Job Description
- *Robotics Engineering Intern — Limitless Robotics**
Limitless Robotics Private Limited, Chennai, invites applications for the position of Robotics Engineering Intern. The successful candidate will work directly with the founder on the design, assembly, programming and testing of robotic hardware.
This position is not defined by a list of programming languages or tools. Technical skills are taught on the job. The company is seeking candidates with strong engineering fundamentals, demonstrated hands\-on ability, and a strong commitment to learning and building in a hardware start\-up environment.
The company's current engineers joined with fundamentals and commitment, and were trained through direct mentorship and AI\-assisted development. Within months they were performing work that typically requires several years of industry experience. The same accelerated path is offered to this position.
- *About the work**
Limitless Robotics develops robotic hardware for people who need it. Technical details of the product are not disclosed in public postings. Full details are shared with candidates who reach the practical assessment stage.
- *Hard skills**
1\. Engineering fundamentals: basic circuit theory (voltage, current, power, Ohm's law), basic mechanics (force, torque, moments) and basic programming competence in any language (Python, C, C\+\+, Java or equivalent).
2\. At least one completed hands\-on project using a microcontroller platform such as Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Teensy or Raspberry Pi.
3\. Working familiarity with hand tools, including drill, hacksaw, file, soldering iron and multimeter.
4\. Ability to read a datasheet and a schematic with guidance.
Taught during the internship (listed so that applicants understand the scope of training):
5\. Embedded C/C\+\+ for real\-time motor and sensor control.
6\. Python for data logging, analysis and plotting (pandas, matplotlib).
7\. BLDC motor control: PWM, PID loops, current, velocity and position control, torque control, FOC fundamentals and motor driver integration.
8\. Communication buses: CAN, CAN FD, UART, SPI and I2C.
9\. Sensors: IMUs, encoders, strain gauges and current sensing.
10\. Power electronics: battery and bus management.
11\. Mechanical fabrication and prototyping: aluminium machining, bolted joints, fits and tolerances, CAD (Fusion 360, SolidWorks or FreeCAD) and basic FEA.
12\. Control fundamentals: gravity compensation, impedance and admittance control, state machines and safety supervisors.
13\. Version control (Git), test protocols and engineering documentation.
14\. ROS 2 where applicable.
15\. AI\-assisted engineering: use of tools such as Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot to accelerate development, with rigorous verification of all generated code against physical hardware.
- *Soft skills**
- *Perseverance:** The patience to work through repeated setbacks until a system functions correctly.
- *Ownership:** The initiative to take a problem and a workbench and proceed without waiting for daily task assignment.
- *Integrity:** Prompt and open reporting of mistakes and gaps in understanding, since hardware problems are far easier to resolve when raised early.
- *Rapid learning:** The ability to become productive from a single explanation, a datasheet or a guided AI session.
- *Resilience:** The capacity to recover from failed boards, damaged drivers and delayed components, including sourcing replacements locally from Ritchie Street or Ambattur.
- *Communication:** Concise, clear technical writing. The ability to explain what was done and why in a few lines.
- *Safety orientation:** Care in handling equipment that is costly and, in its final form, intended for use by people.
- *Key responsibilities**
1\. Assemble robotic prototypes from components through to functional motion.
2\. Develop embedded code for motors and sensors, with AI assistance, and validate it on physical hardware.
3\. Conduct bench tests, log and plot data, and interpret the results.
4\. Fabricate and modify mechanical components as required, sourcing materials from Ritchie Street, Ambattur, Robu.in and other suppliers.
5\. Diagnose and resolve hardware and software faults, and document the root cause.
6\. Assume ownership of a subsystem within the first month.
- *Career significance**
Many robotics graduates complete their education without having controlled a motor under load, wired a CAN bus, machined a load\-bearing component or debugged firmware on hardware of significant value. A substantial number spend their first three to five years in roles that do not provide these opportunities.
This position provides end\-to\-end exposure within the first year: electronics, embedded firmware, motor control, mechanical build, testing and documentation, on a product under active development. This breadth of hardware experience is scarce and highly valued by robotics employers in India and internationally. It also forms a sound foundation for candidates who intend to establish their own hardware ventures.
The intern will conclude the engagement with a portfolio of working systems, a professional reference from the founder who supervised the work, and the practical judgement that is acquired only through building, breaking and repairing real hardware.
- *What the company offers**
1\. Direct, daily mentorship from the founder.
2\. Genuine ownership of subsystems on a real product.
3\. A founding\-stage role in the company as it scales.
- *Qualifications**
Pursuing or having completed a degree or diploma in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical, Biomedical or Computer Science Engineering.Final\-year students, recent graduates and career\-switchers with a demonstrable hardware portfolio are eligible.
- *Location:** Chennai, on\-site, as the work is hardware\-based.
- *Duration:** 3 to 6 months, extendable to full\-time employment.
- *Self\-assessment**
This role asks a great deal and offers a great deal in return. Applicants are invited to consider each statement below honestly. Those who can affirm all six are encouraged to apply; those who cannot may find that a different role suits their circumstances better, and that is entirely reasonable.
1\. I want to do excellent work and I am prepared to put in the effort it requires.
2\. I will work on\-site in Chennai, with the hardware, on most working days.
3\. I am comfortable receiving direct feedback and acting on it.
4\. I value depth of experience over comfort at this stage of my career.
5\. I have built a physical system that worked and can provide evidence of it.
6\. .I am seeking substantive engineering experience rather than a certificate alone.
- *Application procedure**
Applications should be sent by email to **hr@zgrowsolutions.com** or **contact@zgrowsolutions.com** include:
1\. A description, in approximately five lines, of the most complex system the applicant has built or repaired, what failed, and how it was resolved.
2\. Supporting evidence: photographs, video, code repositories or equivalent.
3\. A statement, in approximately three lines, of why the applicant is seeking this position rather than a conventional internship.
4\. Earliest available start date.
A resume is optional. A cover letter is not required. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a half\-day practical assessment at the workshop, in which they will wire a motor, bring it into motion and explain their observations. Candidates are informed of the outcome promptly after the assessment.
