### **Backend Architecture \& Development**

• Architect, build and deploy complex backend features and services using **Ruby on Rails**.
• Design robust database schemas and handle complex data migrations.
• Make thoughtful architectural decisions as our backend evolves.
• Own medium\-to\-large backend deliveries from design through deployment.

### **Performance \& Reliability**

• Improve backend performance, scalability and operational efficiency.
• Build application\-level controls such as **API rate limiting and traffic management**.
• Implement strong logging, monitoring and alerting.
• Lead root\-cause analysis and help resolve production issues quickly.

### **Quality \& Security**

• Maintain high engineering standards through rigorous code reviews.
• Build and maintain robust automated test suites.
• Proactively identify and reduce technical debt.
• Follow secure coding practices and safeguard sensitive user data.

### **AI \& Engineering Workflows**

• Explore and build **AI\-enabled development workflows**.
• Help standardise tools and practices that can make engineering faster and more effective.
• Identify repetitive engineering work that can be automated.

### **Team \& Technical Leadership**

• Mentor junior engineers and raise the team's technical bar.
• Work closely with Product, Frontend and other stakeholders to turn business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Improve CI/CD and contribute to infrastructure and deployment improvements.
• Bring new ideas and influence how the team thinks about development.
