- *Your role and responsibilities**
In this role, you will have the opportunity to create, modify, and analyze the design of equipment, systems, or installations, including specifications for manufacturing, fabrication, or construction. Each day, you will optimize designs to meet updated standards and incorporate new products, components, and functionalities. You will also showcase your expertise by applying design thinking or design for excellence concepts in projects.

This role is contributing to the Motion business for Traction division based in Bangalore, India:
You will be mainly accountable for:* Develop platform control software which shall be reusable for different customer projects for traction converters and battery storage systems, from the software requirements definition to the operational release running on the final system.
- Create and update software documentation according to the defined standards and homologation needs.
- Test and troubleshoot software in diverse environments like real\-time simulators, laboratory, and finally on the vehicle.
- Support commissioning on site as well as remotely.
- Provide technical support to your peers, to other disciplines and to the customer during bid phase, project development, laboratory testing, homologation, and initial operation.
- Contribute to the further development of SW standardization by extending and maintaining libraries and software architecture.
- Configure control hardware and firmware to meet project\-specific requirements.
- Provide expert\-level support to service teams and customers.
- Assist in troubleshooting activities for the installed base.
- *Qualifications for the role*** Bachelor’s degree in Electrical \& Electronics (E\&E) or Electronics \& Communication (E\&C) Engineering.
- 7–10\+ years of experience in control systems, particularly in traction control and auxiliary converter products.
- Minimum of 3 years of working experience in SW development for closed loop control, signal processing, algorithms, and real time programming mechanisms
- Hands\-on experience with Matlab\-Simulink and/or similar IEC 61131\-3 based programming environments.
- Knowledge of SW Versioning tools (SVN, Git) and bring a well\-structured approach to creating high\-quality software and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, the ability to learn quickly and flair to face new challenges. Understanding of SW development processes standards (like EN 50657, EN 50128 or IS0 26262\) would be an added advantage
- Strong understanding of power electronics, line control, and motor control technologies. Familiarity with electrical installations in rail vehicles (experience with Locomotives, EMUs, or Metros is a plus).
- Basic knowledge of communication protocols such as CANopen, J1939, Ethernet (TCP/IP, UDP, TRDP), and MVB is advantageous. Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with global, multidisciplinary teams. Willingness to travel for commissioning and support tasks (approx. 30% of working hours).
