Job Description

  • *Brief about the Organization**

The Lighthouse Communities Foundation is on a mission to build empowered communities through life skills, employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities for a million disadvantaged youth across India.

The organisation has been working since 2015 for large\-scale city\-wide transformation through a unique Public Private Partnership where Government provides capex and infrastructure, and the private sector contributes towards Opex as well as the implementation of the program. 114,500\+ citizens have been impacted till date.

Pune city was recognised as one of the 5 cities globally through the Wellbeing Award for the ‘Lighthouse’ project under the ‘Economy and Opportunity’ category. The program has also been recognized as the best social sector initiative across Smart Cities. Pune City Connect, the Pune division, was selected by Aspen Institute, Washington DC as one of the anchor partners for a large\-scale place\- based initiative in Pune in 2019\.

Lighthouse Communities Foundation currently implements three types of programme under the sustainable livelihoods vertical:

1\. The Lighthouse program is highly personalized with a deep focus on nurturing the agency of youth to envision and realize sustained livelihoods. In order to ensure scalability, the Lighthouse program champions a pioneering public\-private partnership model, with training facilities and capital expenditure being funded by local and state governments, while large corporations support operational costs (manpower, training costs). To ensure best in class livelihood services for youth, the city’s ecosystem is leveraged by forging partnerships with value\-aligned skill training institutions (100\+) and employers (7500\+). Since inception, we have impacted the lives of over 2 lakh individuals across five states in India, namely, Maharashtra, Delhi, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha.

2\. The Global Opportunity Youth Network is a multi\-stakeholder initiative committed to creating place\-based systems shifts for youth economic opportunity. Working with Anchor Partners situated in communities around the world, GOYN works to create economic mobility for “Opportunity Youth” (OY) \-young people aged 15\-29 who are not in school, unemployed, or working in informal, precarious jobs. The approach focuses on multi\-sector collaboration and participatory solution design with an emphasis on equity, systems\-level change, and amplifying the voices of youth. The Global Opportunity Youth Network aim is to unlock the economic potential for “opportunity youth” in Pune \& Bhubaneswar. Working on the principle of “Collective Impact”, GOYN facilitates a deeper level of ecosystem collaboration and coordinated action to transform livelihood opportunities for Opportunity Youth at the city level.

The program is directed towards fulfilling the vision of access to dignified, productive, and sustainable livelihoods for every Opportunity youth in Pune \& Bhubaneswar, with LCF as its anchor partner.

3\. Education: Lighthouse Kiran program is being implemented to support social\-emotional learning among adolescents between 14\-18, covering aspects such as life skills and career coaching. The curriculum focuses on the SEL core competencies \- Self Awareness, Self Regulation and Responsible Decision Making. Additional focus is on Basic Digital, Self Visioning and Self Learning. It enables adolescents to discover who they are, what drives them and understand who they want to be in the world.

In addition to these, a large\-scale Digital Empowerment program in slum/low\-income communities is operational to enable internet literacy, with an aim to reduce the digital divide in low\-income communities. Through the initiative, approximately 70,000 people have been trained since 2016\.
