Senior GCP Hybrid Network Engineer

• *About the role:**

We are seeking a senior, hands\-on Google Cloud networking specialist to take ownership of an established GCP environment for a client in Saudi Arabia. The immediate priority is to connect existing applications hosted in the client's data center to Google Cloud, while operating and improving the current network securely and reliably. This is a client\-facing, onsite engineering role, not a greenfield infrastructure build.

• *What you will do:**

• **Lead the networking and hybrid\-connectivity handover. Review existing architecture, configurations, active connections, access, risks, monitoring, and operational documentation.**
• Work directly with the client's data\-center, network, cybersecurity, and application teams to define application connectivity needs, including source and destination addresses, DNS, ports, protocols, traffic direction, latency, and availability.
• **Own and troubleshoot connectivity between on\-premises applications and GCP using the existing design, including HA VPN, Cloud Interconnect, Cloud Router, BGP, and routing where applicable.**
• Maintain GCP VPCs and Shared VPC, subnets, firewall policies, Cloud NAT, Cloud DNS, load balancing, private connectivity, and network segmentation as required by the environment.
• **Plan and execute approved network changes, firewall rule requests, routing updates, failover checks, maintenance activities, and deployment or cutover windows with minimal service disruption.**
• Validate end\-to\-end application connectivity with application owners, including name resolution, TCP/TLS access, authentication dependencies, performance, and failover, rather than stopping at network tunnel status.
• **Diagnose hybrid network issues using packet\-level troubleshooting, VPC Flow Logs, Connectivity Tests, Cloud Monitoring, logs, and relevant on\-premises tooling.**
• Apply least\-privilege network access, secure ingress and egress patterns, and client\-approved security controls. Coordinate with cybersecurity teams on findings and remediation.
• **Maintain network infrastructure as code using Terraform and Git\-based change controls; document deviations from the approved baseline.**
• Lead network incident escalation, root\-cause analysis, technical reporting, runbook improvements, and coordinated handover to the cloud platform and operations engineers.
• **Maintain network diagrams, connectivity matrices, high\- and low\-level designs, change records, operational runbooks, and documented client acceptance of connectivity tests.**

**Required qualifications**

• **At least 6 years of hands\-on network, infrastructure, or cloud engineering experience, including substantial production experience with Google Cloud networking.**
• Demonstrated implementation and troubleshooting of GCP\-to\-data\-center connectivity using Cloud VPN and/or Cloud Interconnect, with practical Cloud Router, BGP, and route management skills.
• **Strong command of VPC networking, IP addressing and CIDR design, routing, firewalls, DNS, TCP/IP, TLS, HTTP/HTTPS, NAT, and network troubleshooting.**
• Ability to coordinate with on\-premises network and firewall teams to resolve issues across both ends of a hybrid connection.
• **Experience operating live production environments, managing incidents, reviewing changes, and producing clear technical documentation.**
• Working knowledge of Terraform, Git, Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, and network diagnostics.
• **Strong stakeholder\-management skills and fluent professional English, both written and spoken. Arabic is not required.**
• Willingness and ability to work onsite in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Candidates currently based elsewhere *must be* ***prepared to relocate to Riyadh.***

• *Preferred qualifications:**

• Google Cloud Professional Cloud Network Engineer certification.
• **Experience with Shared VPC, Network Connectivity Center, Cloud Armor, hybrid DNS, redundant connectivity, and failover testing.**
• Experience with enterprise networking vendors such as Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, or Fortinet.

• *What successful delivery looks like:**

• **The existing GCP network is documented, monitored, and formally transitioned into operational ownership.**
• Each assigned data\-center application has an approved, tested, secure connectivity path to the appropriate GCP services.
• **Network incidents and changes are handled through clear escalation, change\-control, and recovery procedures.**
