Assume responsibility for FEED and detailed design in compliance with the project specifications, international codes and standards and good engineering practices. Take measures for maintaining quality of engineering, completion of projects within the budgeted man\-hours and cost as per the project schedule by adhering to uniform and optimized work process in Process team. Primary Duties * Allocate appropriate manpower for the preparation of proposals, FEED, Concept Study and the performance of detailed engineering on projects. * Manage the discipline proposal team and perform all activities such as process simulation, review of key process engineering documents, issue of TQs for clarification of tender requirements, FEED Verification, review of process performance guarantee parameters, preparation of technical write\-ups and estimation of Chemical/Catalyst quantities, etc. * Guide the Discipline project team in carrying out contract review, establish list of engineering deliverables and technical requirements for the development of the Technical Document Register (TDR) and the Procurement Register. Review design for compliance with corporate specifications, contract requirements and international codes and standards. * Assume overall responsibility for delivery of process engineering on a project and ensure quality and timely release of deliverables. Build rapport with clients, attend project meetings and meeting with clients, review and monitor key process engineering deliverables like design basis, critical calculations and other engineering activities. Monitor the progress of a project and provide technical support in the completion of all engineering deliverables as per project schedule. Discipline managers could be assigned as process lead on large projects. * Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks during proposal/project stage. Arrange for peer reviews and/or third party verification/studies as required. * Promote value engineering and provide cost effective solutions to maintain quality while meeting with project specifications and not compromising design integrity. * Coordinate engineering activities with other engineering departments. * Evaluate manpower requirements; develop manpower plans and schedules. Recommend, assign and allocate manpower for the execution of engineering activities within the budgeted project man\-hours. Recommend cost effective measures to reduce overall manpower costs. * Manage changes efficiently and ensure the changes are communicated systematically to other disciplines without delay. * Interface and regularly meet with client and vendor representatives, head internal staff and kickoff meetings, ensure the progress of work within allotted man hours and budgeted costs. Coordinate with projects and planning departments on schedule related issues. * Evaluate current manpower skill levels and apportion work among engineering staff according to complexity, and project schedule. Determine training and development requirements; confer with supervisory level personnel in the identification of skill gaps and training needs. Mentor and motivate assigned staff. * Conduct performance appraisals for process team members. Establish clear work standards, performance objectives and targets. Evaluate and make recommendations for promotions, salary increases, transfers, and terminations. * Recommend recruitment requirements in support of department engineering activities; participate in screening of applicants, interviewing, selection and hiring of candidates. * Analyze technology trends; recommend upgrade of systems and procedures when required. Assess, identify and develop technical tools, conduct presentations and seminars to update and improve the quality of engineering deliverables. * Identify and organize the preparation and implementation of standard design guides, specifications, datasheets and checklists. * Interact with Quality Assurance for quality issues; strictly ensure compliance with Company’s ISO Quality standards and procedures. Coordinate Internal and client audit requests; facilitate audit procedures of engineering systems within the department. * Promote awareness of safety in strict compliance with company HSE policies and procedures. * Evaluate and assess department material resources, recommend library books, codes and standards and software requirements. * Participation in project engineering reviews to ensure technical integrity of design from a systems perspective and to ensure process engineers follow process specific procedures and guidelines. * Ensure that interface items between disciplines are addressed by the project engineering teams and provide advice and assistance where required. * Encourage design improvement and technical excellence in consultation with the Discipline specialists. * Project \& Department objective articulated \& communicated to the team. * Encourage active participation in Value Engineering Workshop and arrange TBE review, Gate Review \& Line of Sight Review to maintain a focused approach in project delivery and maintain quality. * Operate \& promote “First Time Right” policy. * Exhibit strong leadership and soft skills. * To put proper perspective in Change Control Mechanism. * Ensuring adherence to GMS and periodic review of GMS based on lessons learnt. * Ensuring applicable Lesson Learnt implementation. * Evaluate competency of each individual and organize training based on gap identified to enhance competency. * Maintain high productivity level of employees and recommend cost effective measures to reduce manpower costs. * Conduct internal staff meetings to ensure the progress of projects in accordance to schedule, allotted man\-hours and budgeted costs. * Evaluate project schedules in liaison with the lead engineer. * Direct the engineers and designers towards achieving quality and maintaining budget and schedule. * Ensure compliance with Company ISO quality procedures. * Facilitate Company’s internal and external quality audits in co\-ordination with the QA/QC Department. * Interact with the Engineering…
