Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a **Senior Product Owner** for a full\-time position (40 hours per week) in Mexico/Costa Rica. Our client offers a comprehensive suite of billing, payments, and software solutions for professional services firms.
You'll drive the day\-to\-day product work behind Tabs3 and Orion, the practice management platforms that thousands of law firms rely on to run their business. It is a hands\-on role that spans the full product lifecycle. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Mid\-Market and Enterprise Legal Solutions, you will help define the roadmap and then own the details that turn it into shipped software: researching incoming feature requests, building the case for what to prioritize, writing product requirements documents and user stories, and partnering closely with engineering and design through delivery. When developers hit product or specification questions that block progress, you will work with customers, internal teams, and leadership to quickly determine the right direction and keep development moving. The role combines responsibilities that are often split across product management, product ownership, business analysis, and scrum master. It is well\-suited to a candidate who has worked across several of these areas and is comfortable moving between them, weighing priorities with leadership one moment, and defining exactly how a feature should behave the next. Success in this role demands a self\-directed professional who pursues the information needed to move work forward rather than waiting for it to arrive.
REQUIREMENTS
- 5\+years of experience in product ownership, product management, business analysis, software consulting, or solution design, with experience across more than one of these areas.
- Expertise in business analysis with the ability to break down complex problems, determine what to build and why, and define clear requirements.
- Expertise in writing of requirements: a track record of PRDs, specifications, and user stories with acceptance criteria that engineering teams readily accept.
- Exceptional communication skills, which are central to this role: be comfortable interviewing and talking with customers, presenting ideas and recommendations clearly to senior leadership, and working closely with engineering and design.
- Have a proactive, self\-directed approach with the ability to actively seek out the information needed to move work forward rather than waiting for it.
- Be comfortable working with data to support prioritization and to make a defensible case for what to build.
- Strong critical thinking with the ability to ask the right questions and get to the root of a problem rather than settling for surface\-level answers.
- Detail\-oriented and well organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities across two products.
- Working hours that overlap with U.S. Central and Eastern business hours, with Eastern time as the priority (overlap: 8 am till 5 pm EST).
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with SaaS products, ideally professional services or practice management software.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and backlog management.
- A working understanding of how software is built, including APIs, databases, and integrations.
- Experience collaborating with UX/design teams on user experience and interface decisions.
- Experience supporting and evolving established, mature products alongside newer offerings.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), ideally in business, information technology, computer science, or a related field.
- Understanding of AI tools to work more efficiently (e.g., Claude, Figma AI, and similar).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Gather and investigate incoming requests from customers, sales, support, and internal teams to understand the underlying problem behind each ask, not just the stated solution.
- Provide the data and context that drive prioritization decisions, customer impact, frequency, effort, and fit with product strategy, and present clear recommendations to leadership.
- Translate priorities into clear, thorough requirements that define what a feature does, how it behaves, and the edge cases that matter.
- Decompose features into well\-scoped user stories with acceptance criteria that engineering can pick up and execute against.
- Work closely with the design team throughout the product lifecycle, providing direction and feedback on user experience and design solutions to ensure they align with product requirements.
- When developers raise product or specification questions, drive them to a fast resolution, pulling in customers, internal teams, and leadership as needed, so the team is never stuck waiting on a decision.
- Develop deep, end\-to\-end knowledge of each feature: the workflows, the data, and the customer’s reality, so the team builds the right thing the right way.
- Shepherd work through discovery, design, build, and release within an agile process, keeping the backlog healthy and work moving.
- Interview and understand customers, present ideas and recommendations clearly to the VP and other internal leaders, and maintain a strong, collaborative working relationship with the development team.
