About the Role As a QA Automation Engineer, your primary focus is designing and maintaining end\-to\-end and API test suites in TypeScript/JavaScript, integrating them into our CI/CD pipelines, and partnering with developers to catch defects before they reach customers. This role also includes hands\-on manual and exploratory testing. Not everything is automated on day one, and not everything should be \- you will perform manual functional, regression, and exploratory testing on features where automation is impractical or not yet in place, and you will use that work to inform what gets automated next. Expect a split that leans toward automation but never drops manual entirely. AI tooling is a core part of how we work. Our QA team makes heavy use of AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate test authoring, generate test data, draft selectors, refactor framework code, and triage failures. You should be comfortable using these tools as a daily multiplier \- not as a replacement for testing judgment, but as a way to get more done with the same headcount. We expect you to review AI\-generated code with the same rigor as code you wrote yourself. What You’ll Do Design, build, and maintain end\-to\-end automated test suites in Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript for our web application. Use AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar) as a core part of your daily workflow to accelerate test authoring, generate fixtures and test data, refactor framework code, and triage failures \- while applying engineering judgment to review and validate AI\-generated output. Build and maintain API test automation (REST) using tools such as Postman, RestAssured, or supertest \- covering positive paths, negative paths, contracts, and edge cases. Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI), tune for stability and runtime, and triage failures. Perform manual functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing on features that are not yet automated or are not good automation candidates. Use this work to inform what gets automated next. Identify which test cases are high\-value automation candidates vs. manual, and where reusable test components (page objects, fixtures, factories) can reduce redundancy. Review user stories and acceptance criteria for testability, surface gaps early, and write detailed test plans aligned with sprint goals. Investigate and document defects with reproducible steps in Jira, perform root cause analysis on critical issues, and partner with developers on fixes. Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand\-ups, planning, retros), communicate quality risks clearly, and contribute to release go/no\-go decisions. Continuously improve test coverage, framework design, and quality metrics (defect escape rate, coverage, flake rate, execution time). **Required Qualifications:** * 3\-5 years of experience in Software QA, with at least 2 years writing and maintaining automated tests in production environments. * Hands\-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript. * Experience creating and maintaining UI automated tests using Playwright. * Solid manual testing fundamentals: writing test plans and test cases, exploratory testing, regression testing, and defect lifecycle management. * Solid API testing experience (REST), including request validation, response verification, request chaining, and negative testing. * Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines. * Git fluency: branching, pull requests, and code review participation. * Working knowledge of SDLC and STLC in an Agile/Scrum environment. * Experience with Jira (or similar) for defect tracking and TestRail (or similar) for test management. * Demonstrated hands\-on experience using AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to improve productivity and support test development activities. * Strong analytical and communication skills; able to articulate quality risks to technical and non\-technical stakeholders. * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field — OR equivalent practical experience. **Nice\-to\-Have:** * Experience testing SaaS or multi\-tenant platforms. * Experience testing booking/scheduling, payments, or subscription\-based products. * Basic understanding of AI\-powered applications, LLMs, AI agents, and testing AI\-driven features. * Performance/load testing exposure (k6, JMeter, or similar). * Security testing fundamentals (OWASP Top 10, authentication and authorization testing). * Experience with microservices architectures and observability tools. * Mobile testing or automation experience. * ISTQB or equivalent certification. **What We’re Looking For in You:** * Engineering mindset — you treat tests as code: maintainable, reviewed, and version\-controlled. * Ownership — you investigate failures rather than ignore them and help ensure reliable test results. * AI\-aware — you understand how AI tools can improve productivity while validating their output. * Clear communicator — you can explain a bug, a risk, or a test gap to developers, product managers, and other stakeholders. * Curious…
