• *About the Role**

As a Senior Technical Writer, you drive documentation projects independently and take responsibility for producing and delivering high\-quality content according to project specs and product delivery plans.

You work closely with multiple engineering, QA, and IT teams to ensure that the documentation is valid, relevant, and available. You also collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that the documentation meets expectations and is aligned with product development and delivery plans.

**Key Responsibilities**

• Create and maintain high\-quality, user\-centric software documentation
• Work independently against project specifications and time plans
• Collaborate cross\-functionally with other teams and stakeholders
• Ensure that content is validated and approved in reviews
• Continuously improve content quality and UX in documentation
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the documentation process
• *Required qualifications**

• 5\+ years creating developer\-facing software documentation
• Proficiency in creating task\-oriented documentation based on journey maps and personas
• Experience with structured documentation and CCMS platforms
• Experience with Markdown/MDX and docs\-as\-code workflows
• Experience using Git on the command line
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non\-technical people
• Self\-organized and able to work independently on multiple projects with little supervision
• *Nice\-to\-haves (Optional):**

• Experience of relational databases, analytics, and data warehousing

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
• Experience working with API documentation/specs/workflows
• Experience using MadCap Flare
• Experience using Confluence and Jira
• Programming skills in at least one programming language

• *A Day in the Life of a** **Senior Technical Writer** **at Exasol**

You start your day by confirming that the nightly builds of the online documentation completed without errors. Since all is well this morning, you award yourself a second cup of coffee while scanning your inbox and planning your day. You prioritize and estimate effort for the incoming documentation tickets, follow up open reviews, and have a quick sync with your team.

In the late morning, you have a call with product management to kick off the documentation work for a planned new feature. You then join a sprint review for a major UI update where you are working closely with the dev team to integrate help content into the UI.

In the afternoon, you have blocked time to finalize an update for the next product release, due this week. Your focused effort pays off: the final draft is quickly reviewed and approved.

The rest of the day is spent reworking a complex procedure that could be challenging for new users. You align with solution engineers, product support, and developers to make sure that the updated documentation is both technically valid and easy to follow.

Before you log off in the evening, you announce on Slack that all the documentation updates for the upcoming product release on Friday are done and in the publishing pipeline. A good day!
