Software Development Engineer 3 – RAID (UEFI / Linux) THE ROLE The Bengaluru team is responsible for the development, validation, and delivery of AMD RAID software solutions for laptops, desktops, and workstation platforms supporting the AMD RAID ecosystem. Our scope spans the full software stack—from firmware and pre\-OS components in UEFI to operating system drivers and user\-space applications across Linux and Windows environments. As a Software Development Engineer in this team, you will contribute to the design and development of Software RAID solutions across UEFI and Linux platforms, working on firmware components, low\-level system software, and device drivers. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with hardware and software teams on storage technologies, platform enablement, driver development, and debugging for next\-generation AMD platforms. You will be part of a highly collaborative engineering team involved in the full product lifecycle, including architecture, design, implementation, integration, validation, and customer issue resolution. THE PERSON We are looking for a versatile and highly motivated engineer with strong system software fundamentals and a passion for low\-level development. The ideal candidate will have hands\-on experience in Linux device driver development, solid programming skills in C/C\+\+, and a good understanding of firmware and operating system internals. You should be comfortable working across software layers—from UEFI/firmware to Linux kernel drivers—and enjoy solving complex technical problems in storage and platform software. Experience in RAID, storage subsystems, or device\-driver debugging will be a strong advantage. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES **Design, develop, and maintain UEFI drivers, UEFI applications, and Linux device drivers for AMD RAID and storage solutions.** Contribute to the development of Software RAID features and enhancements across UEFI and Linux environments. **Develop and maintain UEFI HII components for RAID/storage configuration and management.** Support the end\-to\-end lifecycle of RAID software solutions, including design, implementation, integration, validation, debugging, and release. **Work on Linux kernel\-level software and driver development for storage and platform enablement.** Debug and resolve issues across firmware, Linux kernel drivers, and system software layers. **Collaborate with cross\-functional teams including firmware, hardware, validation, and platform engineering teams to deliver high\-quality RAID solutions.** Work closely with global teams, vendors, and customers to analyze issues, drive root\-cause resolution, and ensure successful product delivery. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE **Strong programming skills in C/C\+\+ for systems software development.** Hands\-on experience in Linux device driver development, Linux kernel debugging, and low\-level software development. **Good understanding of Linux kernel architecture, kernel modules, memory management, synchronization, interrupt handling, and debugging techniques.** Solid understanding of UEFI architecture, UEFI drivers, UEFI applications, and related libraries. **Experience with UEFI HII development is highly desirable.** Good understanding of operating systems, data structures, computer architecture, and x86\-64 platform architecture. **Experience with storage technologies / RAID / SATA / NVMe / SCSI subsystems is a strong plus.** Familiarity with firmware, BIOS/UEFI, pre\-OS environments, and OS\-driver interaction. **Exposure to Windows device driver development/debugging is an added advantage.** Proficiency in Python, Shell scripting, and Linux system development is desirable. **Experience using source control and collaborative development tools such as Git.** Strong analytical, debugging, and problem\-solving skills. **Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively across geographically distributed teams. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS** Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field. **5\+ years of relevant experience in firmware, Linux device drivers, storage software, or system software development.
