About the Role

We are looking for a hands\-on Software Engineer with at least three years of experience who can work across application development, infrastructure, and testing.

You will develop applications, set up and manage deployment environments, test application functionality, and troubleshoot issues across the entire stack. As we do not have separate DevOps or QA teams, you should be comfortable taking ownership of these responsibilities.

We use AI coding agents such as Claude Code to improve development productivity. You should be able to use these tools effectively while retaining the ability to understand code, debug problems independently, and validate solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• **Application Development:** Develop and maintain web applications, backend services, and APIs using JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Svelte/SvelteKit, and PostgreSQL.
• **Infrastructure \& DevOps:** Set up and manage Docker\-based environments, deploy applications on AWS, maintain CI/CD pipelines, and handle configuration, monitoring, logging, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
• **Application Testing:** Test application features end to end, perform functional, integration, regression, and API testing, identify defects, and verify fixes. Develop automated tests where appropriate.
• **Performance \& Reliability:** Perform basic load testing, investigate performance issues, and verify application behaviour in deployed environments.
• **AI\-Assisted Engineering:** Use AI coding agents to assist with development, debugging, testing, and infrastructure tasks. Review and validate generated code and configurations rather than accepting them blindly.
• **Technical Ownership:** Investigate problems, identify root causes, and take responsibility for tasks from implementation through testing and deployment.

Required Skills

• At least **3 years of hands\-on software development experience**.
• Strong working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js.
• Experience developing web applications; Svelte/SvelteKit experience is preferred.
• Practical experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database.
• Hands\-on experience with Docker, Linux, and application deployment.
• Working knowledge of AWS or another cloud platform.
• Understanding of CI/CD, application configuration, logging, and troubleshooting.
• Experience testing web applications and APIs, including regression and integration testing.
• Familiarity with automated testing tools and practices.
• Experience using AI coding assistants or agents, with the ability to review and debug their output.
• Good problem\-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Good to Have

• Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Familiarity with Docker Compose, Redis, or infrastructure as code.
• Experience with automated API testing and load\-testing tools such as k6\.
• Familiarity with application monitoring and log aggregation.

We need an engineer who can **build, deploy, test, and troubleshoot applications independently**.

You should be comfortable working across application code, databases, containers, and cloud infrastructure rather than relying on separate development, DevOps, or QA teams. You should also be willing to learn, experiment, and adapt as our products evolve.

We value sound engineering fundamentals, practical problem\-solving, and effective use of AI tools over an extensive list of certifications.

Work Location

This is a **full\-time, work\-from\-office position**. Roboblox operates from a coworking space rather than a dedicated company office. The selected candidate will be expected to work from the designated location.
