Staff Engineer

• *Responsibilities**

• Use finite element analysis and other analytical tools to develop products that meet internal and/or external customer requirements
• Support and enhance processes and procedures significant to product development
• Translate product requirements into product design features
• Work in a team environment towards bringing new product technologies to market
• Strong communication skills \[written/oral] in presenting data and information to others
• Contribute to ideas for new computational tools in the prediction of tire performance
• Mentor / coach associates in the development of technical capabilities

• *Education**

• Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred – Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

• *Requirements**

• 6\-8 years of progressive experience required using **finite element methodologies.**
• Good knowledge of **structural mechanics/dynamics and/or fluid dynamics**
• Good knowledge of **Finite Element Analysis fundamentals**, especially nonlinear FEA
• Working knowledge of **FEA tools such as Abaqus, Ansys** etc.
• Working knowledge of **3D CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA V5, etc...) software** and their applications is preferred
• **Programming or scripting skills such as Python** etc. are considered a plus.
• Basic applied statistics, Design of Experiments and multi\-regression modeling, cause\-and\-effect analysis, risk analysis, lean principles
• Ability to accomplish assignments in a logical fashion, using existing technology and standardized methodologies
• Demonstrates strong analytical skills and innovative problem\-solving, emphasizing cooperative teamwork
• Ability to form strong working relationships with Goodyear associates (Global \& cross\-functional) and customers
• Effectively communicates and sells ideas related to project requirements and goals
• Ability to adapt to new challenges
• Develop clear and concise technical reports summarizing highlights and making recommendations for logical next steps
