Job Description
- *Job Summary**
The Assistant Team Lead / Team Lead will lead an underwriting operations team, driving quality risk assessment, productivity, SLA adherence, and process compliance. The role combines underwriting expertise with people management and client handling, requiring someone who can mentor a team while owning outcomes for key stakeholders.
- *Key Responsibilities**
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Underwriters to consistently meet productivity, quality, and TAT targets
- Own day\-to\-day team handling — workload allocation, shift planning, attendance, and performance tracking
- Review underwriting decisions for compliance with company guidelines and risk appetite
- Ensure accurate risk assessment aligned to underwriting policy and regulatory standards
- Track daily productivity, quality scores, and SLA/KPI performance
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching sessions, and feedback discussions
- Own client relationships — handle queries, join client calls/reviews, and resolve client escalations with clear root\-cause analysis
- Resolve complex underwriting escalations, both internal and client\-facing
- Spot process gaps and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Prepare and analyze MIS reports and quality dashboards
- Coordinate with Quality, Training, Operations, and Business teams
- Support hiring, onboarding, and capability building within the team
- Ensure compliance with audit and process requirements
- Build team engagement and a high\-performance culture
- *Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
- 3–5 years of experience in Life Insurance Underwriting Operations within an Insurance BPO environment.
- Exposure to either UK or US Insurance Operations is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong grounding in underwriting principles, including medical underwriting, financial underwriting, fraud detection/indicators, and risk assessment.
- Excellent analytical, decision\-making, and communication skills.

Pay: ₹264,000\.00 \- ₹360,000\.00 per year
