======================================================================
At Cygni Energy, our people take ownership, work closely across functions and turn engineering ideas into products that customers can rely on. **Our Business:** Incubated at IIT Madras, Cygni Energy develops lithium\-ion battery and energy storage solutions for mobility, telecom and stationary applications. We work with OEMs, telecom companies and solar EPC players to address practical energy challenges. **This Role:** You will own the technical lifecycle of Cygni’s telecom battery products, from customer requirements and product definition through testing, qualification, volume production and field performance. You will be the single accountable technical point of contact for customers and internal teams, working with NPD, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales and Service to close every product issue. **The Opportunity:** India’s expanding mobile network and 5G rollout create a substantial need for dependable telecom power. India had 5\.18 lakh 5G base transceiver stations by December 2025 (DoT/PIB, February 2026\). Network expansion, battery replacement and efforts to reduce diesel use create opportunities for reliable lithium\-ion systems with better monitoring and lifecycle economics. Your engineering decisions will help customers sustain network uptime while improving their energy infrastructure. **Why This Role:** Apply your battery design, integration and project\-leadership experience to a complete product family. Shape requirements, resolve technical trade\-offs with NPD, lead customer qualification and see the product through manufacturing and field deployment. This role offers broader product accountability while keeping you close to engineering.**Product Definition and Technical Ownership**
==============================================
- Own the product specification, roadmap, lifecycle plan and technical risk register; translate customer needs into measurable requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Work with NPD on cell and pack configuration, BMS behaviour, electrical and mechanical interfaces, thermal performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability.
- Maintain a controlled product baseline covering specifications, drawings, BOM, firmware versions and approved variants. Assess changes and obtain required approvals before release.
- *Testing Validation and Customer Qualification**
=================================================
- Own the qualification schedule and requirements\-to\-test compliance matrix. Coordinate design validation plans, samples, laboratories, test execution, reports and failure closure with NPD and Quality.
- Ensure validation covers agreed capacity, backup duration, charging, cycle life, protection, thermal, environmental, communication and system\-integration requirements; identify applicable certification and customer obligations with Quality.
- Lead customer demonstrations, witnessed tests, factory acceptance tests and field pilots. Agree protocols and deviations in writing, resolve observations and secure documented product qualification.
- *Customer Technical Interface**
================================
- Own all customer technical product correspondence: specifications, RFQ clarifications, compliance responses, datasheets, test reports, meeting actions and technical approvals.
- Represent Cygni in technical reviews with telecom operators, tower companies and power\-system partners. Make clear commitments backed by internal feasibility and agreed evidence.
- Maintain one action tracker with owners and deadlines; drive cross\-functional resolution and timely escalation of technical risks, without leaving customers to coordinate internal departments.
- *Volume Production and Lifecycle Performance**
===============================================
- Lead readiness reviews with NPD, Quality and Manufacturing; verify approved documentation, end\-of\-line tests, traceability, pilot\-build results and closure of release\-critical issues before volume production.
- Support production ramp\-up, supplier changes and field deployments. Lead root\-cause reviews and corrective\-action closure, including revalidation and customer approval where required.
- Use field data and customer feedback to improve reliability, serviceability and lifecycle cost; coordinate product upgrades, obsolescence and end\-of\-life transitions.
- *Prior experience**
====================
- Typically 8–12 years in battery systems, product engineering, applications engineering, technical product management or new product development, with ownership beyond a single component.
- Demonstrated delivery of a product from specification through validation, customer acceptance and production release; able to explain personal decisions and measurable outcomes.
- Hands\-on lithium\-ion battery pack or BMS integration experience. Telecom power exposure is preferred; strong EV or industrial battery engineers with transferable systems knowledge are welcome.
- Experience leading technical discussions with customers and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering, quality, manufacturing and supplier teams.
- *Professional qualifications**
===============================
- BE/BTech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline. Postgraduate engineering qualifications are welcome; an MBA is not required.
- Strong systems understanding of cells, pack architecture, BMS, protection, thermal design and battery performance across operating conditions.
- Ability to evaluate telecom DC power integration, rectifier/charger compatibility, parallel battery operation, remote monitoring and communication interfaces such as CAN or RS485\.
- Working knowledge of requirements management, DVP\&R, DFMEA, engineering change control, root\-cause analysis and production\-readiness reviews.
- Clear, accurate written technical communication and confident customer presentation skills; ability to explain trade\-offs and defend decisions with test evidence.
- Ownership, structured problem\-solving and the ability to drive closure across teams. Willingness to travel to customer sites, test laboratories and manufacturing locations.
- *What Success Looks Like**
===========================
- On\-time customer qualification, complete validation evidence and prompt closure of technical correspondence and customer observations.
- Smooth production ramp\-up, controlled product changes, reliable field performance and fewer recurring customer issues.
