Our Materials and Structural Analysis division designs, manufactures, and supports high\-performance microscopy workflows for life sciences, materials sciences, and semiconductor industries. From sample preparation to data collection and analysis, our systems and software play key roles in scientific discovery including determining high\-resolution protein structures with cryo\-electron microscopy or visualizing 3D cellular ultrastructure’s with volume EM. As a Technical Writer in our Life Sciences business unit, you'll define, develop, and manage technical publications for our global customers, helping optimize their learning and integration of Thermo Scientific's family of electron microscopy solutions.
Your contribution as Technical Writer relies on extensive experience in four chief functions
- *Develop and deliver technical content**
- Define content strategies and architecture at the portfolio level for sophisticated, specialized publications.
- Conduct interviews, research, observe, and work hands\-on to capture and synthesize source material.
- Architect customer\-facing content using a variety of multimedia options appropriate to specific purposes and audiences.
- Design and perform user research to define our audiences and evaluate the effectiveness of our team's work.
- *Manage projects**
- Lead the implementation of new publication workflows and processes at our local site.
- Help develop, communicate, and manage project plans for new functional initiatives.
- Provide transparency to all elements of a project to leadership, collaborators, and resources.
- *Analyze business processes**
- Collaborate on crafting solutions to improve our ways of working in support of our strategic vision and road map.
- Work with internal business partners to gather information, requirements, and priorities and provide input to our project planning and decision\-making processes.
- *Education**
BS/BA in a writing\- or science\-related field, or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
- *Experience and Knowledge**
- 5\+ years of technical writing experience.
- Professional experience in electron microscopy, life sciences, or related scientific field.
- Solid experience working within Agile software development environments.
- Sophisticated knowledge of structured authoring and single\-sourcing, particularly using Madcap Flare and other XML\-based authoring tools.
- Detailed experience with GitLab, HTML, and CSS.
- Successful project leadership in cross\-functional, cross\-cultural international work teams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a history of developing positive relationships.
- Proficiency in English, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Reliably self\-motivated and comfortable working independently.
