We are seeking a skilled and experienced Plastic Component Tool and Die Maker to join our manufacturing team. As a Plastic Component Tool and Die Maker, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining precision tools and dies used in the production of plastic components.
Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine tool and die requirements for plastic component manufacturing.
Design, build, and repair precision tools, dies, moulds, and fixtures used in plastic injection moulding processes.
Utilize computer\-aided design (CAD) software to develop detailed tooling designs and create 3D models.
Operate a range of specialized machinery, such as CNC machines, wire EDM, surface grinders, and precision lathes, to fabricate tool and die components.
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and production staff to understand tooling needs and provide input on design improvements for plastic component manufacturing.
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with tools and dies, and perform necessary repairs and modifications to ensure proper functionality.
Conduct preventive maintenance on tools and dies to extend their lifespan and minimize production downtime.
Perform test runs and inspections on newly built or repaired tools to validate their performance and make necessary adjustments.
Work closely with the plastic injection moulding team to optimize tooling processes, ensure dimensional accuracy, and improve cycle times.
Maintain detailed documentation of tool and die specifications, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in plastic injection moulding technology, and best practices to enhance skills and knowledge.
Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or apprenticeship in tool and die making or plastic injection moulding is preferred.
Proven experience as a Plastic Component Tool and Die Maker, with a minimum of 5 years of hands\-on experience in plastic tool and die construction, repair, and maintenance.
Proficiency in operating specialized machinery used in plastic component manufacturing, such as CNC machines, wire EDM, surface grinders, and precision lathes.
Strong knowledge of plastic injection moulding processes, tool steels, mould design principles, and precision measuring instruments.
Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Excellent problem\-solving skills and the ability to analyze and troubleshoot tool and die issues specific to plastic component manufacturing.
Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high\-quality work with tight tolerances.
Strong manual dexterity and the ability to work with precision and accuracy.
Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross\-functional teams.
Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to adhere to safety guidelines in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast\-paced manufacturing environment.
