Detailed description of work task to be carried out\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nDatabase Engineer – PostgreSQL (Google Cloud), PostgreSQL Database Administration \- GCP\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nDomain: Database Engineering / Cloud Migration\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nProgram context: Non‑Oracle Database Migration to Google Cloud (VMware exit)\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nSupport the migration, operation, and stabilization of SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases as part of Nordea’s Non‑Oracle database migration to Google Cloud, while ensuring continued stable and compliant operation of business‑critical database services in a regulated environment.\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\n \\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nKey responsibilities\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nExecute and support database migrations from on‑premises (VMware) to Google Cloud\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nOperate PostgreSQL databases in hybrid and cloud environments\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nSupport migration activities including: Technical analysis and preparation\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nMigration execution and validation\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nPost‑migration stabilization and issue resolution\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nPerform database administration tasks such as: Performance tuning and optimization\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nCapacity planning\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nBackup, recovery, and availability setup\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nSupport incidents, changes, and releases in line with ITSM processes\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nCollaborate with Cloud Engineering, Security, Platform, and Application teams\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nContribute to documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nMust\-have knowledge and experience\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nStrong hands‑on experience as a Database Engineer / DBA\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nProven experience with PostgreSQL in enterprise environments\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\n(depth in one with working knowledge of the other is acceptable)\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nExperience operating databases on cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nHands‑on experience with on‑prem to cloud database migrations\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nSolid understanding of: \\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\n\-High availability and disaster recovery concepts\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\n\-Backup and restore strategies\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\n\-Performance troubleshooting\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nExperience working in regulated environments (banking, finance, or similar)\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nAbility to work effectively in distributed offshore teams\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nNice\-to\-have knowledge and experience\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nExperience with SQL Server, Db2, Oracle databases and migration of those is a benefit\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nExperience with managed or VM‑based database services in Google Cloud\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nFamiliarity with hybrid cloud architectures\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nAutomation or scripting experience\\\\\\\\r\\\\\\\\nExposure to security, risk, or audit requirements\\\\

Key Responsibilities

Support and execute database migrations from on‑premises (VMware) to Google Cloud Operate and manage PostgreSQL databases in hybrid and cloud environments Participate in migration lifecycle activities: Technical analysis and planning Migration execution and validation Post‑migration stabilization and issue resolution Perform database administration tasks: Performance tuning and optimization Capacity planning Backup, recovery, and high availability setup Handle incidents, changes, and releases in alignment with ITSM processes Collaborate with cross\-functional teams including Cloud Engineering, Security, Platform, and Application teams Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures

Skill Requirements

Strong hands\-on experience as a Database Engineer / DBA Proven expertise in PostgreSQL in enterprise environments Experience with cloud\-based database operations, preferably Google Cloud Hands\-on experience with on\-prem to cloud database migration projects Solid understanding of: High availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) Backup and restore strategies Performance tuning and troubleshooting Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., banking, financial services) Ability to work effectively in distributed and offshore team models

Other Requirements

Experience with other databases such as SQL Server, Db2, or Oracle Exposure to migration of heterogeneous databases Knowledge of Google Cloud managed or VM\-based database services Familiarity with hybrid cloud architectures Automation and scripting skills (e.g., Shell, Python) Awareness of security, risk management, and audit/compliance requirements
