- *Assistant Bridge Engineer**
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in **Civil Engineering** from a recognized university/institution.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum **3 years of professional experience** in the planning, design, construction supervision, or execution of bridge and structural works.
- Must have been involved in at least **one major bridge project** during the course of professional experience.
- Experience in highway, road, or transportation infrastructure projects will be preferred.
Purpose of the Position
To assist in the planning, design review, construction supervision, quality control, and contract administration of bridge and related structural works, ensuring that all activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the supervision and monitoring of bridge construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, and quality standards.
- Review construction drawings, method statements, shop drawings, and technical submissions related to bridge works.
- Monitor progress of bridge construction and identify potential technical issues affecting quality, safety, schedule, or cost.
- Assist in inspection and supervision of foundations, substructures, superstructures, bearings, expansion joints, deck slabs, retaining structures, and other bridge components.
- Verify construction materials, workmanship, and testing activities to ensure conformity with project specifications and relevant standards.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, survey teams, laboratory personnel, and project management staff for effective implementation of bridge works.
- Assist in reviewing reinforcement details, formwork arrangements, concrete placement operations, prestressing activities, and erection procedures where applicable.
- Participate in site inspections, measurements, quality audits, and progress reviews.
- Maintain records of inspections, test results, construction progress, and non\-conformance reports.
- Assist in preparation of technical reports, progress reports, and project documentation.
- Support the Resident Engineer/Bridge Engineer in resolving site\-related engineering and construction issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and contractual requirements during execution of bridge works.
Technical Competencies
- Knowledge of bridge engineering principles and construction methodologies.
- Understanding of reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, and composite bridge structures.
- Familiarity with bridge foundations, pile works, abutments, piers, bearings, expansion joints, and deck systems.
- Ability to interpret structural drawings, design calculations, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and quality control procedures applicable to bridge construction.
- Proficiency in engineering software and computer applications such as AutoCAD, MS Office, and project management tools.
