Automation & AI Solutions Engineer

About the Role

We’re building a platform of reusable, agentic automation modules we can scale across many construction‑focused SMB clients (\<$15M revenue). You’ll design and ship autonomous, tool‑using AI agents powered by n8n and Python, integrate CRMs/accounting/job systems, and contribute to a growing internal platform (shared nodes, services, evals, guardrails, and runbooks).

• **Own client outcomes.** Run discovery, define quick wins, create the plan, hold the schedule, and drive to done.
• **Build and integrate.** Use **Python** (Pandas/FastAPI as needed), **SQL**, APIs/webhooks, and **workflow tools** (tool‑agnostic: n8n, Make, Zapier, Power Automate) to connect CRMs, accounting, and job/ops systems.
• **Deliver fast value.** Examples: KPI dashboards, approval handoffs, enrichment/dedupes, light ETL to a warehouse, or small Python services that glue systems together.
• **Tune in real stacks.** Work across HubSpot/Salesforce, QuickBooks Online, Jobber/Procore/Buildertrend, Google Workspace/Microsoft 365, and similar SMB tools.
• **Communicate clearly.** Weekly client updates, risk/issue logs, change notes, and short Loom walkthroughs.
• **Enable users.** Draft mini runbooks, deliver trainings, measure adoption, and iterate.

Example "quick wins"

• Revenue and pipeline rollups with lead‑source accuracy and SLA follow‑ups.
• Collections nudges with templates and payment links; QBO sync sanity checks.
• Capacity‑aware scheduling triggers; change‑order alerts to the right channel.
• One‑click “single source of truth” views for ops and leadership.

30/60/90 outcomes

• **30 days:** At least one productionized quick win (e.g., live report or automation) and an agreed 60‑day roadmap.
• **60 days:** 2–3 automations live with measured time/cost savings, plus a light analytics layer (BI or SQL views).
• **90 days:** Stable Phase‑1 bundle (dashboards \+ 3–5 workflows \+ handoffs), clear backlog, and adoption metrics trending up.

Must‑have

• **1–3 years** implementing automations or analytics for SMBs **or** a strong portfolio of shipped quick wins.
• **Python** for data wrangling (Pandas) and small scripts; **FastAPI** a plus.
• **SQL** (joins, filters, aggregations; basic indexing) with Postgres/MySQL preferred.
• **Workflow automation** with at least one tool (**n8n/Make/Zapier/Power Automate**).
• **APIs \& integrations:** REST, OAuth, webhooks, pagination; comfort reading docs and testing with Postman/cURL.
• **Client‑facing delivery:** run lightweight discovery, build a schedule, track tasks, give clear weekly updates.
• **Communication:** concise writing; Loom‑style demos; simple runbooks.

Nice to have (preferences)

• **Power BI** for dashboards/modeling and **Power Automate** for MS‑centric workflows.
• n8n custom nodes (TypeScript) or orchestrating multi‑step/agentic flows.
• BI tools (Looker Studio, Metabase), data modeling basics.
• Cloud basics (AWS/GCP), containers (Docker), simple CI (GitHub Actions).
• Experience in SMBs (construction, home services, manufacturing, professional services).
