A **BLDC Motor Development Engineer** is responsible for the complete development cycle of brushless DC motors used in applications such as drones, robotics, electric vehicles, industrial automation, and electric propulsion systems. The role combines electromagnetics, mechanical design, electronics, and testing to create efficient, reliable, and high\-performance motors.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop BLDC motors based on application requirements
- Perform electromagnetic calculations and motor sizing
- Create motor concepts, CAD models, and prototype designs
- Work on stator/rotor design, winding selection, and thermal considerations
- Conduct motor simulations using FEA tools to optimize:
- Torque
- Efficiency
- Thermal performance
- Magnetic flux distribution
- Develop and test winding configurations
- Integrate motors with ESCs (Electronic Speed Controllers)
- Work on motor control algorithms including:
- FOC (Field\-Oriented Control)
- Trapezoidal control
- Sinusoidal commutation
- Perform prototype assembly, debugging, and validation testing
- Use motor test rigs, oscilloscopes, and measurement equipment for performance analysis
- Troubleshoot issues related to vibration, heating, efficiency, and noise
- Coordinate with firmware, embedded, and mechanical teams for system integration
- Prepare technical reports, test documentation, and design improvements
