BOM & Production Planning Executive (SAP B1)

• *Job Purpose**

The BOM \& Production Planning Executive is responsible for translating engineering designs into executable Bill of Materials (BOM) within SAP Business One (SAP B1\). The role requires overseeing the entire production lifecycle in the system—from creating Production Orders and issuing raw materials to receiving finished goods and analyzing production costs.

The candidate must ensure that the SAP B1 production data perfectly mirrors the physical manufacturing process on the shop floor.

2\. Key Responsibilities

A. Bill of Materials (BOM) Management in SAP B1

• BOM Creation: Create and maintain multi\-level BOMs in SAP B1 based on inputs from the R\&D and Engineering teams.
• BOM Updates: Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) by updating BOMs in the system for component replacements, quantity changes, or design upgrades.
• Costing: Ensure all components in the BOM have accurate costs updated so the system can calculate the standard cost of the finished product.
• Verification: Continuously validate the system BOM against the physical assembly process to prevent material shortages or excesses.

B. Production Order Management

• Order Creation: Create and release Production Orders in SAP B1 based on sales orders or internal production plans.
• Material Issue: Monitor the issuance of raw materials and components to the shop floor using the "Issue for Production" function in SAP B1\.
• WIP Tracking: Track Work\-in\-Progress accurately. Ensure partially completed goods are reflected in the system.
• Receipt from Production: Process the receipt of finished goods into the warehouse via the "Receipt from Production" function upon completion of the order.

C. Production Planning \& Scheduling

MRP Support: Assist in running the MRP (Material Requirements Planning) module in SAP B1 to generate purchase recommendations based on open production orders.

Capacity Planning: Coordinate with the production head to align system production orders with actual shop floor capacity.

Backflush Management: Ensure proper usage of backflushing (if implemented) for specific components to automate material issues in the system.

D. Variance Analysis \& Reporting

• Variance Analysis: Compare the standard BOM cost vs. actual material consumed and report deviations (scrap, wastage, or over\-consumption) to management.
• MIS Reporting: Generate daily production status reports, WIP reports, and open production order reports from SAP B1\.
• Audit Support: Provide system\-generated production records, BOM history, and WIP valuations to internal and statutory auditors.
