• *Company Overview:** Theater is a dynamic and rapidly growing fashion start\-up based in India. Our mission is to create India's best design\-led, mass\-premium western fashion company. At present, Theater specializes in footwear, stockings, bags and fragrances for women.

• *Position Overview:** Data Analyst will be responsible for keeping Theater's business data clean, well\-structured and trusted, and for turning it into decisions. This hands\-on role sits between analysis and data engineering, and involves building and maintaining data pipelines on our in\-house analytics platform, safeguarding data quality across every sales channel, and delivering insights that help our teams grow the business profitably.

• *Key Responsibilities:**

• *1\. Data Quality and Reconciliation:**

● Write automated validation checks that catch duplicates, gaps and outliers before data reaches any dashboard.

● Reconcile sales, inventory and returns numbers across Shopify, marketplaces, quick\-commerce apps and the warehouse system.

• *2\. Data Cleaning and Loading:**

● Turn raw API responses, SFTP file drops and Excel sheets into reliable tables using Python and SQL.

● Handle real\-world data issues such as mixed date formats, renamed SKUs and partial returns.

• *3\. Data Pipelines and ETL:**

● Extend and maintain Python ETL jobs that load orders, inventory, returns, ad spend and courier data into PostgreSQL on AWS.

● Build in pagination, retries, incremental loads, logging and safe writes so that every job can be rerun safely.

• *4\. Data Modelling:**

● Design fact and dimension tables, marts and views that keep metrics consistent across all dashboards.

● Ensure key metrics such as net sales, return rate and ROAS mean the same thing for every team.

• *5\. Business Analysis and Insights:**

● Analyse sales, inventory, returns, ad spend and customer behaviour across footwear, stockings, bags and fragrances.

● Present clear, data\-backed findings to the category, marketing, supply chain and finance teams, and flag when the data does not support a conclusion.

• *6\. Pipeline Monitoring and Operations:**

● Monitor scheduled daily pipelines and investigate failures promptly.

● Fix the root cause of each issue rather than the symptom, keeping data fresh and dependable.

• *7\. Documentation and Ownership:**

● Keep documentation of data sources, tables and metric definitions current as part of every change.

● Take end\-to\-end ownership of a part of the data platform within six months, working closely with the platform's architect.

**Qualifications**

● 2–3 years of experience in a data analyst, BI or analytics engineering role.

● Prior experience with **D2C, e\-commerce, retail or marketplace data** is preferred.

● Advanced SQL skills, including CTEs, window functions, multi\-table joins and query optimisation; PostgreSQL preferred.

● Strong Python and pandas skills, including rerunnable scripts with error handling and logging, and pulling data from REST APIs.

● Proven experience cleaning and reconciling messy, real\-world data across multiple systems.

● Solid understanding of data structures and warehouse architecture, including keys, grain, fact and dimension tables, ETL vs ELT and incremental loads.

● Hands\-on experience with at least one cloud platform, ideally AWS (S3, hosted databases, scheduled jobs on Linux), and comfort with the command line and Git.

● Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain findings in plain words to non\-technical teams.

● Good to have: Shopify, marketplace or ad\-platform data (Meta Ads, Google Ads, GA4\), Airflow, Prefect or dbt, and dashboard tools such as Metabase or Power BI.
