We are looking for an **experienced Deputy Manager – Purchase to manage end\-to\-end purchasing**
Activities, material planning, supplier coordination, inventory control, and Sales \& Operations Planning (S\&OP) for our manufacturing operations. This role ensures 100% on\-time deliveries to customers, timely Availability of materials, adherence to purchasing processes, and disciplined execution through MRP.
The ideal candidate must have strong supplier management capability, hands\-on MRP experience, and the ability to coordinate closely with Production, Stores, Planning, S\&OP, and Quality teams. The role requires excellent ownership, analytical skills, and strong planning discipline to avoid shortages and maintain optimal inventory levels.
- *1\. Purchase \& Buyer Coordination**
- Supervise daily purchase activities including PR review, PO creation, PO accuracy, and follow\-ups.
- Responsible for Domestic and Import purchasing, covering both direct and indirect materials.
- Lead and guide a team of buyers to ensure timely, compliant, and efficient purchase activities.
- Ensure adherence to approved supplier lists, pricing agreements, and purchase SOPs.
- *Monitor delivery schedules and proactively expedite materials when required.**
- Ensure purchase planning supports 100% customer delivery commitments.
- *2\. Supplier Coordination \& Issue Resolution**
- Act as the first point of escalation for supplier delivery delays, quality issues, and shortages.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and drive supplier responsiveness.
- Track and improve supplier On\-Time Delivery (OTD), delivery accuracy, and adherence to commitments.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions with suppliers for recurring issues.
- Support supplier capability development for Domestic and Import sources.
- *3\. Material Availability for Production**
- Ensure uninterrupted production by maintaining timely availability of materials.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Stores, and S\&OP for clear visibility of shortages and action plans.
- Publish daily shortage reports and ensure closure actions with suppliers.
- Support daily production and S\&OP meetings with updated purchase status.
- Align material purchase with customer schedules to ensure 100% customer delivery performance.
- *4\. Inventory Management**
- Maintain optimal inventory levels through continuous monitoring of consumption, safety stock, and reorder points.
- Identify slow\-moving, non\-moving, and excess stock and drive reduction actions.
- Ensure disciplined stock control through documentation and periodic cycle counts.
- Work with Stores and Finance to ensure physical vs system stock accuracy.
- Support inventory optimization for both Domestic and Import items.
- *5\. MRP \& S\&OP Management**
- Execute purchasing based on MRP signals with strong adherence to system discipline.
- Ensure accuracy of master data (lead time, MOQ, safety stock, planning parameters).
- Manage MRP exceptions and highlight critical requirements proactively.
- Coordinate with IT/ERP for enhancements and corrections.
- Lead purchase\-related inputs for the Sales \& Operations Planning (S\&OP) cycle, ensuring alignment
of demand, supply, and inventory.
- *6\. Data Reporting \& Analysis**
- Prepare daily/weekly reports on material availability, shortages, inventory status, and supplier
Performance.
- Track purchase KPIs and highlight deviations with root cause and corrective actions.
- Analyse consumption trends, planning variances, and purchase performance.
- Provide reporting for Domestic and Import spend, supplier OTD, and inventory health.
- *Technical Skills (Must\-Have)**
- Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP modules and material planning logic.
- Hands\-on experience in Domestic and Import purchasing \& supplier management.
- Good understanding of commodities: castings, machined parts, sintered components, gears, plastics, rubber parts.
- Knowledge of logistics, freight coordination, import documentation, and customs processes.
- Experience in inventory control, safety stock calculation, and consumption\-based planning.
- Strong MS Excel, reporting, and analytical skills.
- Ability to resolve supplier delivery issues and drive corrective actions.
- Familiarity with cost elements, basic commercial terms, and negotiation fundamentals.
