The Finance Analyst – Record to Report (RTR) will play an important role in supporting the integrity, control and efficiency of the UK Finance function. Operating within a fast\-paced, private equity\-backed environment, the role will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial processing, including journal preparation, balance sheet reconciliations and month\-end accounting activities, helping to ensure a robust and controlled financial close process.
This role goes beyond transactional accounting. The successful candidate will take ownership of key accounting processes, proactively investigating reconciling items, resolving issues and supporting improved financial discipline across the business. Working closely with the wider finance team, the role will help provide confidence in the accuracy of financial information through strong attention to detail, control and accountability.
A key expectation of the role is to continuously improve the efficiency and consistency of core accounting activities. The Finance Analyst – RTR will be encouraged to identify process improvements, standardise ways of working and challenge inefficient practices, while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy, control and delivery against tight month\-end timelines.
- Preparation and posting of month\-end journals (accruals, prepayments, provisions, payroll, intercompany, fixed assets, reclasses).
- Balance sheet reconciliations with clear commentary and ageing follow\-up.
- Support with month\-end close to WD timelines.
- Investigation and resolution of reconciling items.
- Intercompany reconciliations and mismatch resolution.
- Support for cashbook, banking and treasury journals.
- Fixed asset accounting, depreciation and additions/disposals.
- Support with inventory and stock accounting (given Cromwell complexity).
- Assistance with E\&O / provisions / reserves.
- Preparation of schedules for audit, tax and statutory reporting.
- Support with P\&L and balance sheet variance analysis.
- Drive controls, process documentation and standardisation.
- Ensure journals are appropriately supported and auditable.
- Escalate issues early rather than carrying reconciling items.
- Support the wider finance team with ad hoc tasks, analysis and reporting requirements as needed.
- *Experience, Knowledge and Skills**
- Previous experience within an accounting, finance or record\-to\-report environment, ideally supporting month\-end close activities.
- Good understanding of accounting principles, double\-entry bookkeeping and financial controls.
- Experience preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of month\-end close processes and maintaining accurate, auditable financial records.
- Strong Microsoft Excel experience.
- Ability to investigate reconciling items, identify root causes and resolve issues proactively.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and control.
- Organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Ownership mindset with accountability for completing tasks to a high standard.
- Continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and standardise processes.
- Strong communication skills with confidence to escalate issues and challenge where appropriate.
- Experience within a multinational, shared service or UK finance environment desirable.
- Accurate and timely completion of journals, reconciliations and month\-end activities in line with reporting deadlines.
- Balance sheet reconciliations completed to a high standard, with reconciling items proactively investigated and resolved.
- Reduction in aged reconciling items and improved quality of supporting documentation.
- Strong compliance with financial controls, ensuring accurate and auditable financial records.
- Positive contribution to an efficient and controlled month\-end close process.
- Identification and implementation of process improvements to simplify, standardise and improve efficiency of accounting activities.
- Strong stakeholder feedback through reliability, ownership and quality of delivery.
