Foundry Manager
Job Summary
The Foundry Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and improving all foundry operations to ensure safe, cost\-effective, and high\-quality production.
This includes melting, moulding, core making, pouring, fettling, quality control, maintenance, manpower management, and production planning.
Key Responsibilities
Production Plan daily and monthly production schedules.
Ensure production targets are achieved. Optimize furnace utilization and reduce melting costs.
Minimize scrap, rework, and downtime. Melting \& Metallurgy Approve charge mix and alloy additions.
Control chemical composition and pouring temperatures.
Monitor melt quality and ensure compliance with specifications.
Troubleshoot casting defects.
Quality Control Ensure castings meet dimensional and metallurgical requirements.
Review spectrometer reports, hardness, and inspection results.
Implement corrective and preventive actions.
Process Improvement Improve yield and reduce rejection.
Standardize operating procedures. Introduce cost\-saving initiatives and productivity improvements.
Maintenance Coordinate preventive maintenance of furnaces, moulding equipment, and utilities.
Ensure minimal breakdowns and maximum equipment availability.
Safety \& Environment Enforce PPE usage and safe work practices.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Conduct safety training and incident investigations.
Inventory \& Cost Control Monitor raw material and consumable inventory.
Control melting losses and energy consumption.
Prepare production and cost reports.
Team Management
Supervise supervisors, melters, moulders, and fettling staff.
Train employees and evaluate performance.
Maintain discipline and teamwork.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Production Engineering.
8–15 years of foundry experience, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial role. Required Skills Strong knowledge of cast iron, SG iron, alloy cast irons, and steel castings.
Experience with induction furnaces and spectrometer\-based process control.
Knowledge of moulding, melting, pouring, heat treatment, and quality systems.
Leadership, communication, planning, and problem\-solving skills.
Familiarity with ISO quality systems and workplace safety standards.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Production target achievement.
Casting rejection rate.
Furnace productivity.
Metal yield.
Energy consumption per tonne.
On\-time delivery.
Production cost per kg. Safety performance (zero lost\-time accidents).
Customer complaint reduction.
Pay: ₹40,000\.00 \- ₹50,000\.00 per month
