Freelance Scientific Editor \& Reviewer\-Response Specialist – Photocatalysis / Environmental Engineering
To scientifically edit, structurally revise, and prepare reviewer\-response for a peer\-reviewed manuscript on photocatalytic Cr(VI) reduction, targeting Photochem (MDPI).
· PhD in Environmental Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
· Specialisation in heterogeneous photocatalysis, semiconductor materials, or environmental remediation (preferred)
· Prior experience as peer reviewer or author in MDPI journals (Photochem, Catalysts, Nanomaterials) is an advantage
· Demonstrable publication record in photocatalysis or heavy\-metal remediation
· Reference management: Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote
· Literature databases: Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar
· Manuscript preparation: MS Word (tracked changes), LaTeX (optional)
· Data \& figure checking: Origin, GraphPad, or equivalent
· Journal guidelines: MDPI Author Instructions for Photochem
· 3\+ years in photocatalytic systems (TiO₂, g\-C₃N₄, MOFs, MXenes, bismuth\-based, Z/S\-scheme heterojunctions)
· Experience writing or editing review articles in environmental photocatalysis or materials science
· Ability to interpret radical\-scavenger experiments, PL, EIS, XPS, and charge\-transfer mechanisms
· Proven track record of reviewer\-response writing for SCI\-indexed journals
· Familiarity with benchmarking photocatalytic performance (pH, catalyst dose, light source, Cr(VI) concentration)
· Cr(VI) speciation (HCrO₄⁻, CrO₄²⁻, Cr₂O₇²⁻) and pH dependence
· Photocatalytic mechanisms: band\-gap engineering, Z/S\-scheme heterojunctions, radical pathways (**OH, O₂**⁻, h⁺)
· Emerging materials: MXene composites, COFs, defect\-engineered g\-C₃N₄, photocatalytic membranes
· Practical challenges: catalyst stability, leaching, cost\-effectiveness, real wastewater matrices, and scale\-up
· Advanced academic English editing to MDPI standards (grammar, syntax, technical precision)
· Restructuring manuscripts to eliminate section overlap and improve logical flow
· Drafting point\-by\-point reviewer\-rebuttal letters that are scientifically rigorous and diplomatically worded
· Standardising reference lists, tables, and figure captions per journal requirements
· **1\. Manuscript Restructuring** – Eliminate redundancy across sections; reorganise as: Introduction → Methodology → Fundamentals → Material Classes → Cross\-Comparison → Practical Challenges → Future Directions. Add mesoporous material definition (2–50 nm); revise title to “Recent Advances in the Photocatalytic Reduction”.
· **2\. Literature Update (2023–2026\)** – Conduct systematic Scopus/WoS search; report full methodology. Integrate MXene, COF, Cr(VI)\+H₂, RuO₂/g\-C₃N₄ (RSC Adv., 2025\), and Far\-UVC iodide/sulfite synergy (J. Environ. Sci., 2025\) reviews.
· **3\. Critical Analysis** – Develop benchmarking framework (pH, catalyst dose, light source, Cr(VI) concentration, irradiation time). Clearly separate adsorption from true photocatalytic reduction. Evaluate mechanistic claims (PL, EIS, XPS, EPR). Add Practical Challenges and Future Directions sections.
· **4\. Data Consistency** – Resolve numerical inconsistencies (e.g., Fe₂O₃–TiO₂: 88% in Table 1 vs 95\.7% in text, Lines 652–654\). Standardise Tables 1 \& 2; represent missing values as “Not reported”. Correct unit error Line 302 (100 L → 100 mL) and clarify citation \[101] on Line 303\.
· **5\. English Editing** – Full grammar and style edit to MDPI standards. Address all Reviewer 3 line\-specific issues (Lines 18–19, 29–31, 146, 238, 302–303\). Correct “stimulated” → “simulated” solar light and all analogous typographical errors.
· **6\. Reviewer\-Rebuttal** – Draft structured point\-by\-point response letter for all comments from Reviewers 1, 2, and 3\. For each: state action taken, indicate revised manuscript location, provide scientific justification. Adopt a professional and constructive tone throughout.
