Job Purpose
The General Manager will be responsible for leading and overseeing all business operations of the company, ensuring sustainable growth, operational excellence, profitability, and customer satisfaction. The role requires a dynamic leader with strong expertise in manufacturing, engineering, business development, and team management within the heavy machinery or industrial equipment sector.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership \& Business Growth
- Develop and execute long\-term business strategies to enhance market share and profitability.
- Drive annual business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost\-control initiatives.
- Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities in domestic and international markets.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies.
- Support the Board and Managing Director in achieving organizational objectives.
Operations \& Manufacturing Management
- Oversee end\-to\-end manufacturing operations, including fabrication, machining, assembly, testing, and dispatch.
- Ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery commitments are consistently met.
- Optimize production processes to improve efficiency, productivity, and resource utilization.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage supply chain activities, procurement planning, inventory control, and vendor development.
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Sales, Marketing \& Customer Relationship Management
- Develop and implement B2B sales strategies to increase revenue and expand market presence.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, OEMs, and industrial clients.
- Support proposal preparation, pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and order conversion.
- Ensure effective after\-sales support, technical service, and customer satisfaction.
- Represent the company at industry exhibitions, trade shows, and business forums.
Engineering \& Product Development
- Collaborate with engineering teams to drive product innovation and continuous product improvement.
- Support development of customized machinery solutions based on customer requirements.
- Ensure adherence to engineering standards, product reliability, and manufacturing feasibility.
Financial Management
- Manage overall Profit \& Loss (P\&L) responsibility.
- Monitor financial performance, cash flow, operating costs, and profitability.
- Identify cost\-saving opportunities without compromising quality and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure efficient utilization of company resources and capital investments.
Team Leadership \& Workforce Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop department heads across Production, Engineering, Sales, Purchase, Finance, and HR.
- Build a high\-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Drive manpower planning, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
- Promote workplace safety, employee engagement, and organizational discipline.
Key RequirementsEducation
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related discipline.
- MBA in Operations Management, General Management, or Business Administration preferred.
Experience
- 12–15\+ years of experience in industrial machinery manufacturing or heavy engineering.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership position such as Plant Head, Operations Head, Business Unit Head, or General Manager.
- Experience in machine tools, tube/pipe mill equipment, metal processing machinery, or related sectors preferred.
Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of fabrication, machining, assembly operations, and industrial manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of production planning, quality management systems, and supply chain operations.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, ERP systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong commercial and financial management capabilities, including P\&L responsibility.
