Lead Developer (Java, Spring Boot, Microservices & Industrial Integration)

• *\#\# Role purpose**

The Lead Developer will provide hands\-on technical leadership for implementation of the Next Generation Platform. The role turns architecture and product requirements into production\-quality software, leads a development squad, and is accountable for code quality, integration, and delivery from design through pilot and rollout.

• *\#\# Key responsibilities**

• Lead the design and implementation of modular services and domain capabilities using Java and Spring Boot.
• Drive migration from legacy Java technologies, API modernization, cleanup, stabilization, and incremental extraction of services from the existing platform.
• Translate domain models and architecture decisions into maintainable code, interfaces, schemas, and deployment\-ready components.
• Build and integrate capabilities across warehouse execution, robotic applications, controls, Edge services, HMI, and data acquisition as assigned.
• Develop reliable interfaces to enterprise systems, PLC/control layers, robot controllers, Edge applications, and operational data consumers.
• Set coding standards and lead code reviews, pairing, refactoring, automated testing, and technical documentation.
• Create reference implementations and reusable components that improve consistency across squads.
• Work with QA to define testability, acceptance criteria, component/integration tests, simulators, and defect\-prevention practices.
• Work with DevSecOps to embed build, scanning, packaging, deployment, observability, and operational controls into the delivery workflow.
• Troubleshoot complex performance, concurrency, integration, and production issues across software and equipment boundaries.
• Break roadmap features into feasible technical increments, provide estimates, surface dependencies, and protect delivery quality.
• Mentor developers and support the growth of technical ownership within the team.

• *\#\# Required experience and capabilities**

• Minimum 8 years of software\-development experience, including at least 2 years leading technical delivery or mentoring a development team.
• Advanced Java and Spring Boot skills, including API design, dependency management, persistence, concurrency, and automated testing.
• Experience with modular monoliths and/or microservices, domain\-driven design, REST and asynchronous integration patterns.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, messaging, Git\-based workflows, CI/CD, containers, logs, metrics, and distributed troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to modernize legacy code safely while continuing to deliver features.
• Understanding of secure coding, authentication/authorization, secrets handling, dependency risk, and common application vulnerabilities.
• Experience integrating with PLCs, robots, material\-flow systems, Edge devices, or industrial protocols is highly desirable.
• Strong ownership, communication, estimation, review, and mentoring skills.
