NPD - Design Engineer

• *JOB DESCRIPTION – NPD DESIGN ENGINEER**

• *1\. Job Purpose**

To design, develop, and validate new fastener products as per customer requirements, engineering drawings, quality standards, and manufacturing feasibility, ensuring timely product development, cost optimization, and successful production launch.

• *2\. Key Responsibilities**

• *Product Design and Development**

• Design and develop bolts, nuts, screws, studs, and special fasteners as per customer specifications.
• Prepare and modify 2D engineering drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
• Review customer drawings, technical specifications, tolerances, and applicable standards.
• Conduct design feasibility studies to ensure products can be manufactured efficiently.
• Coordinate new product development activities from initial design to final production release.

• *Engineering Drawings and Documentation**

• Prepare detailed engineering drawings with dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, and thread details.
• Maintain drawing revisions and ensure proper document control.
• Review and implement engineering changes based on customer requirements.
• Prepare and maintain NPD documentation, including APQP, DFMEA where applicable, and other required quality records.

• *Manufacturing and Process Coordination**

• Coordinate with Cold Forging, Thread Rolling, Heat Treatment, Surface Treatment, Quality, and Tool Room departments.
• Ensure product designs are suitable for manufacturing processes and tooling requirements.
• Coordinate prototype development, trial production, and sample inspection.
• Support dimensional verification, product validation, and customer sample submission.
• Resolve design\-related issues identified during manufacturing and product trials.

• *Quality and Customer Requirements**

• Ensure product designs comply with customer specifications and applicable fastener standards.
• Coordinate with the Quality Department for inspection, testing, and product validation.
• Support PPAP documentation and customer approval activities.
• Ensure timely implementation of customer drawing changes and technical requirements.

• *Cost Optimization and Continuous Improvement**

• Identify opportunities to reduce material consumption, tooling costs, and manufacturing complexity.
• Support design improvements to improve product quality and manufacturability.
• Analyze design\-related rejections and support corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure timely completion of NPD projects as per agreed schedules.

• *Cross\-Functional Coordination**

• Coordinate with Sales, Quality, Production, Purchase, Tool Room, and other departments.
• Communicate technical requirements and clarify design\-related issues.
• Monitor development progress and report project status to the reporting manager.

• *3\. Educational Qualification**

• Diploma or BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Additional certification in CAD design or product development is preferred.

• *4\. Experience Required**

• 2–5 years of experience in NPD, product design, or engineering design.
• Experience in automotive fasteners or precision component manufacturing is preferred.

• *5\. Technical Skills Required**

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo.
• Knowledge of fastener design, engineering drawings, GD\&T, and dimensional tolerances.
• Understanding of bolt, nut, screw, and thread specifications.
• Knowledge of materials, heat treatment, surface treatment, and mechanical properties of fasteners.
• Understanding of cold forging, thread rolling, and tooling requirements.
• Knowledge of ISO, DIN, IS, ASTM, and applicable automotive fastener standards.
• Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and other relevant quality tools.
• Good communication, documentation, and problem\-solving skills.

Pay: ₹30,000\.00 \- ₹35,000\.00 per month
