Job Purpose
To lead and manage the passenger vehicle sales function of the dealership, ensuring achievement of sales targets, market share growth, customer satisfaction, profitability, and compliance with OEM standards. The Sales Manager is responsible for driving retail, corporate, exchange, and finance\-linked sales while developing a high\-performing sales team and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales Planning \& Target Achievement
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual vehicle sales targets.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to maximize showroom footfalls, inquiries, test drives, and retail sales.
- Monitor daily sales performance and conversion ratios.
- Drive market share growth within the dealership’s area of responsibility.
- Ensure achievement of departmental revenue and profitability objectives.
Team Leadership \& Development
- Lead, coach, motivate, and supervise sales consultants and team leaders.
- Set individual sales targets and monitor performance.
- Conduct regular sales reviews, performance evaluations, and coaching sessions.
- Identify training needs and ensure continuous skill development of the sales team.
- Foster a high\-performance and customer\-focused sales culture.
Customer Relationship Management
- Ensure outstanding customer experience throughout the sales journey.
- Monitor customer interactions and maintain high Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) scores.
- Handle escalated customer concerns and complaints effectively.
- Build long\-term relationships with retail and corporate customers.
- Promote customer retention and referral business.
Corporate \& Institutional Sales
- Develop business opportunities with corporate clients, institutions, government departments, and fleet customers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts.
- Identify new market opportunities and customer segments.
- Support business development initiatives and lead generation activities.
Finance \& Insurance (F\&I) Performance
- Drive penetration of vehicle financing, insurance, extended warranties, accessories, and value\-added products.
- Coordinate with banks, NBFCs, and insurance partners to maximize sales opportunities.
- Ensure achievement of F\&I and accessory sales targets.
Inventory \& Delivery Management
- Monitor vehicle inventory levels and stock movement.
- Coordinate with OEM and inventory teams for vehicle allocation and availability.
- Ensure proper stock planning and inventory aging control.
- Oversee smooth and timely vehicle delivery processes.
Marketing \& Business Development
- Support local marketing campaigns, roadshows, exhibitions, and promotional events.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to generate quality leads.
- Monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, and market trends.
- Recommend initiatives to improve sales performance and customer acquisition.
Process Compliance \& Reporting
- Ensure compliance with dealership SOPs and OEM sales standards.
- Maintain accurate sales records and CRM data.
- Prepare sales forecasts, MIS reports, and performance analyses.
- Monitor sales funnel effectiveness and implement corrective actions where required.
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field.
- MBA (Marketing/Sales) preferred.
Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in automobile sales.
- Minimum 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a passenger vehicle dealership.
- Experience with passenger vehicle brands such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor India, Tata Motors, Mahindra \& Mahindra, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Kia India, Honda Cars India, Volkswagen India, or similar OEM dealerships preferred.
