• *Role Purpose:**

We monitor key events and conduct research to produce thought\-provoking reports, data models, and presentations. From asset valuation to corporate reports, from market supply\-demand research to price\-forecasting, and from the regional to the global, our analysis helps shape our customers’ commercial strategies.

We also support bespoke consulting projects, diving deeper into our data to answer unique questions. We help our Sales team retain and win new business by spending time with customers and answering questions that matter to them. We work closely with colleagues in our Data and Product functions to maintain the quality of our published data and to deliver content via our **growing Lens platform****.**

Through carrying out primary research, responding to customer questions, and presenting to industry stakeholders, you will build relationships and a network of contacts at key operators, national bodies, and other relevant institutions. Over time you will gain specialist knowledge and develop the skills you require to progress your career at Wood Mackenzie.

• *Main Responsibilities:**

We are looking for an enthusiastic **Senior Research Analyst** to join our Refined Products and Transport Fuels team. The main focus of the role will be to analyse oil product markets and oil refining assets. We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about the future of the oil refining sector and how it will develop in the coming decades to meet the needs of society in a sustainable manner.

The successful candidate will join a global team of analysts and industry experts undertaking fundamental research and modelling of all aspects of the oil and chemicals value chains. The role offers the opportunity to develop modelling and forecasting skills and comprehensive industry knowledge through regular interaction with other members of the global Oils and Chemicals team. The successful candidate will be required to collaborate closely with cross\-functional research teams to integrate perspectives on how refineries are evolving in response to the energy transition, lead the analysis of refined product markets for a region, and provide strategic insights to our clients via presentations, webinars, or emails, in a prompt and professional manner.

Your application should showcase your enthusiasm for the sectors we cover and demonstrate your ability to undertake the following responsibilities:

• Play a leading role in our analysis of oil product supply and demand and oil refining assets around the world
• Work closely with colleagues in other Wood Mackenzie research teams to build a robust, integrated view of how oil product markets will change through the energy transition and how refiners will adapt to those changes
• Pro\-actively contribute to forecasting methodology and modelling improvements
• Present the outlook for the oil refining sector to clients and prospects in meetings and via web\-calls and where appropriate, engage with the press to build Wood Mackenzie’s reputation
• Work with the product managers of the evolving suite of downstream oil research offerings to deliver high quality content, which clearly communicates our analysis to clients. Contribute to development plans for the products, providing ideas and support for enhancements and improvements
• Respond to internal and external enquiries regarding oil refineries in a timely and professional manner
• Provide expert input on oil refining and associated markets to consulting projects in conjunction with the consulting team
• Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to service clients and grow the client base.

• *About You:**

You have a demonstrable interest and relevant experience in oil refining sector or chemicals. Experience as an engineer or analyst in the refining or chemicals sectors would be a distinct advantage. You are highly numerate, with a high attention to detail and proven analytical and problem\-solving skills, enabling you to formulate leading\-edge analysis from a variety of data and information. Your existing knowledge will enhance our coverage as you develop your career.

• **Keen interest in refined oil product/ chemical market dynamics \-** as someone with a keen interest in refined oil product market dynamics, you want to understand how these markets impact the natural resources industry and our everyday lives. You can undertake analysis of the adjacent crude and chemicals markets to develop an integrated outlook for the refining sector. You can generate short\-term and long\-term forecasts by analysing market developments and contributing to regular research reports working as part of a global team.
• **Analytical mindset and eye for detail \-** you're comfortable collecting and interpreting data, clearly articulating your findings, and seeking to enhance your knowledge by asking thoughtful questions. You can develop compelling narratives from researched/ available data points to present a strong view of the current market scenario and write insightful commentary on the challenges and opportunities for the refined products/ chemicals markets. You can maintain and develop data models, methodology and other intellectual property related to the industry. You have experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, which helps you present your findings in a visually compelling way.
