Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and result\-oriented Financial Controller to lead the Finance \& Accounts function and ensure robust financial governance across the organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, the incumbent will be responsible for financial accounting, reporting, treasury, taxation, compliance, audits, budgeting, MIS, internal controls, and business finance.
The ideal candidate should possess strong experience in retail, apparel, manufacturing, D2C, and e\-commerce environments, with a proven track record of driving financial discipline, process excellence, compliance, and business performance.
Key Responsibilities \- Financial Accounting \& Reporting
- Lead end\-to\-end accounting operations and financial reporting processes.
- Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closure of books of accounts.
- Prepare accurate financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor financial performance and ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
- Drive financial accuracy, transparency, and governance across the organization.
Retail, D2C \& E\-commerce Finance
- Oversee accounting and financial controls across retail stores, D2C channels, marketplaces, and omni\-channel operations.
- Monitor revenue recognition, inventory accounting, stock valuation, gross margins, and profitability.
- Manage reconciliations related to payment gateways, marketplaces, customer refunds, loyalty programs, and settlements.
- Develop channel\-wise profitability reports and performance analytics.
Treasury \& Working Capital Management
- Lead cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
- Optimize liquidity and fund utilization across business operations.
- Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and treasury functions.
- Monitor receivables, payables, and vendor payment cycles to ensure healthy cash flow management.
Taxation \& Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax, Companies Act, and other applicable statutory regulations.
- Manage tax assessments, notices, departmental audits, and litigation matters.
- Coordinate with external consultants, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure timely filing of statutory returns and regulatory submissions.
Listed Company Compliance \& Audit Management
- Support quarterly, half\-yearly, and annual financial reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with SEBI regulations, stock exchange requirements, and corporate governance norms.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, internal auditors, cost auditors, and secretarial auditors.
- Support preparation of annual reports, board presentations, audit committee reviews, and regulatory disclosures.
Internal Controls \& Reconciliations
- Establish and strengthen internal control frameworks and financial governance mechanisms.
- Ensure timely reconciliation of:
- Bank Accounts
- Vendor and Customer Ledgers
- Inventory and Stock Records
- Marketplace and Payment Gateway Settlements
- Inter\-company Transactions
- Drive risk mitigation and compliance adherence across finance operations.
Budgeting, MIS \& Business Finance
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long\-range financial planning processes.
- Develop and present meaningful MIS reports, dashboards, and management reviews.
- Analyze business performance and provide actionable financial insights to leadership.
- Partner with business teams to improve profitability, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance, accounts, taxation, and compliance teams.
- Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, process excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Build scalable systems and capabilities to support future business growth.
Desired Candidate ProfileEssential Requirements
- Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred.
- 12\+ years of progressive experience in Finance \& Accounts.
- Strong experience in Financial Controllership, Accounting, Compliance, Taxation, Treasury, and Audit Management.
- Experience in retail, apparel, fashion, manufacturing, D2C, e\-commerce, or consumer\-facing businesses.
- Strong understanding of inventory\-driven business models and multi\-channel operations.
- Hands\-on experience with financial reporting, internal controls, and statutory compliance.
- Proven leadership experience managing finance teams and cross\-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, problem\-solving, and decision\-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a listed company environment.
- Exposure to fundraising, investor reporting, and banking relationships.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems, financial automation, and reporting tools.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast\-paced, high\-growth business environment.
