At Protolabs, we're transforming the future of manufacturing through technology. We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our MP Marketplace team at Protolabs Network.

In this role, you will help build and enhance the technology behind our global manufacturing marketplace, developing scalable backend systems that manage the complete order lifecycle—from supplier matching and production workflows to quality control and delivery.

### **What You'll Do:**

• **Lead End\-to\-End Development:** Design, develop, and deliver backend features while collaborating with cross\-functional teams to solve complex marketplace challenges.
• **Build Scalable Backend Systems:** Develop robust APIs and backend services that support the complete order lifecycle, from supplier matching to final delivery.
• **Drive Technical Excellence:** Contribute to architectural decisions and continuously improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of our platform.
• **Mentor and Collaborate:** Guide fellow engineers, share technical knowledge, and promote strong engineering practices within the team.
• **Enhance Platform Capabilities:** Work with event\-driven systems and build solutions that support increasing order volumes and business requirements.
• **Ensure Product Quality:** Improve system quality through effective testing, monitoring, observability, and engineering best practices.
• **Collaborate Across Teams:** Work closely with the Backend Engineering Guild to establish standards and continuously improve backend systems.

### **What It Takes:**

• 7\+ years of experience developing web applications and backend services.
• Strong proficiency in Python, with experience designing, developing, testing, and monitoring production\-grade systems.
• Hands\-on experience working with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD environments.
• Proven ability to lead technical projects, make architectural decisions, and mentor fellow engineers.
• Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with Product Managers, Designers, and other stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, problem\-solving, and collaboration skills.

• *Bonus Points If You Have:**

• Experience working with marketplace platforms or operational systems.
• A strong understanding of event\-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with Angular and TypeScript.
