Job Summary
The SPM Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) and industrial automation systems based on customer requirements. The role involves conceptual design, 3D modeling, detailed engineering drawings, BOM preparation, component selection, manufacturing support, and coordination with production, electrical, and automation teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop Special Purpose Machines (SPMs), automation equipment, fixtures, and custom machinery.
- Prepare concept layouts, machine assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Create 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or CATIA.
- Develop and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM), technical documentation, and operating manuals.
- Select mechanical components such as motors, gearboxes, bearings, linear guides, cylinders, sensors, and fasteners.
- Perform engineering calculations related to load, stress, torque, motion, and material selection.
- Coordinate with electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC automation teams during machine development.
- Support manufacturing, assembly, testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Apply GD\&T, tolerance stack\-up analysis, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
- Troubleshoot design\-related issues and implement design improvements.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and customer specifications.
- Participate in design reviews and customer discussions.
Required SkillsTechnical Skills
- Strong knowledge of machine design and mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Experience in SPM, industrial automation, material handling systems, conveyors, or assembly machines.
- Proficiency in:
- SolidWorks
- AutoCAD
- Creo / CATIA / Inventor (preferred)
- Knowledge of GD\&T and engineering drawing standards.
- Understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, servo systems, and automation concepts.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly.
- Ability to prepare BOMs and technical documentation.
Pay: ₹300,000\.00 \- ₹500,000\.00 per year
