Job Description – Technical Assistant (Visual Communication / Viscom)

Department: Visual Communication (Viscom)Designation: Technical AssistantQualification: Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Visual Communication, Multimedia, Film Making, or related disciplines.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Assist faculty members in conducting practical classes and laboratory sessions.
• Maintain and operate cameras, video cameras, lighting equipment, microphones, and other studio equipment.
• Provide technical support for photography, videography, video editing, and media production activities.
• Assist students with practical projects related to photography, filmmaking, graphic design, and multimedia.
• Handle and maintain video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, and other relevant applications.
• Maintain computer labs, photography studios, video editing labs, and media production equipment.
• Ensure proper functioning of audio\-visual equipment, projectors, computers, and studio accessories.
• Assist students in recording, editing, and producing short films, documentaries, advertisements, and digital content.
• Support faculty members during workshops, seminars, events, and departmental activities.
• Maintain records of equipment, software, laboratory usage, and student practical sessions.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and safety of cameras and other technical equipment.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues and coordinate repairs when required.
• Assist in preparing practical demonstrations and technical materials for classroom teaching.
• Support departmental academic projects and other institutional media\-related activities.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of photography and videography.
• Hands\-on experience with DSLR / Mirrorless cameras.
• Knowledge of video editing and graphic designing software.
• Basic knowledge of audio recording, lighting, and studio operations.
• Computer hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication and student\-handling skills.

Preferred Qualification

• B.Sc. / M.Sc. Visual Communication.
• B.A. / M.A. Visual Communication.
• Diploma in Multimedia, Film Technology, or related fields.
• Freshers with strong practical knowledge may also apply.

Job Location: VISTAS, Pallavaram, Chennai.
